Answer: Musk ox

Oomingmak translates as "the animal with skin like a beard". Musk oxen are valued by the Inupiaq and Yupik for their meat which they compare to mountain goat. Skins could be used for clothing and shelter.

Prairie dogs live in grasslands and open plains. They have separate chambers within their burrow system for storing food, nursing, sleeping, and relieving waste. They help keep the soil healthy by loosening it with their digging. They provide a source of food for other animals, including eagles, ferrets, and coyotes.
