Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Hill Loose Shuns

Answer: Illusions

Illusions are tricks that magicians perform, many of which are impossible in nature, and that baffle audiences exceedingly. They appear to contravene all the laws of physics, but ultimately they're just very clever moves and placements and diversionary tactics.
2. Pressed Toe

Answer: Presto

"Hey Presto!" or "Presto!" are words that many magicians shout when revealing the highlight of each magic trick. It's a lovely piece of showmanship.
3. Me Roars

Answer: Mirrors

The use of mirrors is included in many acts performed by these workers of magic. These can fool an audience into believing something is somewhere else when, in fact, it's right before their very eyes.
4. Hip No Toss Him

Answer: Hypnotism

Some, but not all, magicians include hypnotism as part of a show. This usually involves getting members of an audience up on stage, whether planned beforehand or not, putting them in a trance, and getting them to perform crazy tricks in order to amuse the remaining members of that audience.
5. Can Jew Raw

Answer: Conjurer

A conjurer is another name for a magician or an illusionist. Their tricks involve sleight of hand, deception, the use of mirrors, and diverting an audience's eyes elsewhere in order to perform a successful trick.
6. His Cape Poller Jest

Answer: Escapologist

Some magicians are skilled enough to deceive an audience into thinking they can escape easily from the most perilous of situations. These could include being handcuffed and thrown into a barrel of water, for example. A curtain is sometimes part of the act, while a clock ticks the minutes over agonisingly.

The trick may also be performed in full view of the audience. The highlight of the trick is that the magician appears to have vanished completely, but turns up sitting beside someone in the audience and as dry as a bone. That sort of thing.
7. Sore Sir Err

Answer: Sorcerer

A sorcerer is another way to describe these workers of impossible magical tricks. The word legerdemain can also be used, and several other words along the same lines. Basically though, the rudiments of their acts are the same - to fool, amaze and astonish audiences by the production of seemingly impossible feats.
8. Podge Gins

Answer: Pigeons

Poor little pigeons are sometimes part of a magician's act. He miraculously pulls them out of an empty hat, or some other device, which was completely empty when first the magician showed it to his audience. Then, miraculously they appear, flying out of nowhere it seems. Rabbits can also be used as well, but they're somewhat harder to conceal.
9. Prate Tea Has Sis Tent

Answer: Pretty Assistant

Some magicians use a young and pretty assistant as part of the act. Her role, which is mostly a diversion tactic, appears to consist of handing the magician objects he can just as easily pick up for himself, or taking up theatrical poses, or smiling vapidly at the audience.

She's more or less just another prop. Oh, but why not? I look forward to the day when female magicians present their act with scantily clad male assistant in a similar role.
10. Hob Brer Car Dob Roar

Answer: Abracadabra

Abracadabra and hey presto, the quiz is over! I hope you enjoyed it.
