Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A fast start for you: Which Sebastian would you track down to an entirely different field than the other three?

Answer: Sebastian Bach

Three of these Sebastians have been really fast on their respective tracks: Sebastian Vettel is a four-time Formula 1 World Champion, Sébastian Loeb has nine World Rally Championships to his name and Sebastian Coe won numerous Olympic and other international medals in middle distance track running.

Sebastian Bach, however, is a Canadian Heavy Metal singer, best known as the lead voice of Skid Row in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
2. We'll go directly to our next name: Which Stephen (or Steven) does not have a Hollywood connection?

Answer: Stephen Hendry

While Stephen King's primary claim to fame is of course his writing, he has directed "Maximum Overdrive", a film somewhat similar to his "Trucks" short story. Soderberg and Spielberg are of course both Oscar-winning directors. All three have also acted as executive producers for many productions.

Stephen Hendry on the other hand got his break in Snooker, winning his first of seven World Championships at age 21 in a sport where it's unusual for a player to reach the top before his late 20s.
3. I could fill an entire quiz list with people named Smith, so let's narrow it down: Three of these four Smiths are not only connected by occupation but also by family ties. Who would be out of place at the Smith family movie night and also appeal to a different musical taste?

Answer: Cal Smith

Out of Will Smith's three children, both Jaden and Willow have enjoyed their own successes in acting and rap/hip-hop music. His oldest son Trey had a few television appearances but never made a major career of acting or music. Will Smith's second wife Jada Pinkett Smith (mother of both the younger children) is also an actress and musician, but, unlike the rest of the family, performs for the Heavy Metal genre.

Cal Smith was an American country singer who had several hits in the US ountry top 10 in the early 1970s.
4. The next four celebrities are all highly successful musicians who perform under a single name, but which one would biologically be least likely to perform as the Queen of the Night?

Answer: Slash

Slash is the only male on this list and thus probably a better fit for Sarastro than for the Queen. He is most known as the lead guitarist of Guns N'Roses but also enjoyed solo success since about 2010.

Of the three ladies, Norwegian singer Sissel would likely have an easy time filling the role as she is actually a trained classical soprano who has enjoyed worldwide success with her operatic pop interpretations. Sade is a Nigerian-born soul artist and Shakira a Colombian rock and pop idol who is more of an alto than a soprano so she might have to transpose the part.
5. These four Susans can certainly all play very well. One of them however uses that word in an entirely different meaning than the other three - which one?

Answer: Susan Polgar

While all four of these certainly memorize their lines before playing, for Susan Polgar this means opening lines - she is a chess Grandmaster and became women's World Champion in 1996 (in one of her few appearances in women-only play; she mostly played in the open division).

The other three Susans are all actresse: Susan Hayward won the Best Actress Oscar in 1959 for her performance in "I Want to Live!", Susan Sarandon won hers in 1995 for "Dead Man Walking" and Susan Lucci won the 1999 Emmy (on her 19th nomination) for her role in "All My Children", a series she starred on for its entire 41 year, 10712 episode network run.
6. Thinking of famous Sophies, there is an extensive list of talented actresses to choose from. Which of them does, however, both geographically and in apparent size, not fit with the others?

Answer: Sophie Marceau

The odd lady out here is Sophie Marceau, a French actress who appeared in over 40 cinematic productions. Her first and probably most famous role was as a teenager in the party film "La Boum" and its sequel. In later years, she played more dramatic roles including classical parts.

The wrong answers are all British television actresses: Sophie Lawrence is most famous for her appearance on "EastEnders", Sophie Abelson was a nurse for three years on "Doctors" and Sophie Aldred played Doctor Who's companion "Ace" in the late 1980s.
7. Sean is also a common first name among celebrities. Which Sean's work would you primarily enjoy with a different sense than that of the the others?

Answer: Sean Lennon

While Sean Lennon, the only son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, had a few acting appearances, he is mostly active as a musician and composer with multiple film scores to his name.

The other Seans are (or were) all actors: Sean Connery is of course famous as the first James Bond, Sean Penn is a two-time Best Actor Oscar winner (for "Mystic River" and "Milk") and Sean Astin will forever be remembered as Samwise Gamgee in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.
8. Which of these Svens would be not only associated with a very different claim to fame but also with a different season of the year than the other three?

Answer: Sven Lindberg

Sven Lindberg was a Swedish actor and director whose greatest success was his last film "Spring of Joy" in 1993.

The other three are all Olympic gold medal winners at various winter sports: Sven Hannawald won with the German team at the 2002 Salt Lake City games, but his greatest achievement was the clean sweep of the Four Hills Tournament in the same year. Sven Kramer won a total of four speed skating gold medals from 2010 to 2018 and Sven Fischer nabbed an individual biathlon sprint title at the 2006 games along with three team golds (1994, 1998 and 2006).
9. If you were to listen to radio broadcasts these four Starrs performing the acts they became famous for, which one would sound most differently from the others?

Answer: David Starr

If you're hoping for some great songs by David Starr, I would have to disappoint you unless the sound of race car engines is music to your ears. David has driven for several American racing series and was most successful in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

The other three Starrs are all famous musicians - Ringo Starr is of course known as the main drummer for the Beatles, Edwin Starr was a soul singer most famous for his 1970 single "War" and 1969's "Twenty-Five Miles" and Lucille Starr was a Canadian country singer and yodeler who achieved fame with her 1964 album "The French Song". The single of the same name was the first by a Canadian artist to sell over a million copies.
10. Last but not least, "Spencer" can be both a first and last name. All of these Spencers enjoyed distinguished acting careers lasting more than thirty years, but which one worked in a very different medium than the others?

Answer: June Spencer

Spencer Garrett has been active in both movies and television from 1989 to at least 2020 with his most notable films including "Air Force One" and "21". Spencer Tracy began his career as a theater and broadway actor, but became one of Hollywood's classic stars in the early 1930s, working on major films every year until 1963. Bud Spencer's acting career lasted from 1954 to 2009 and his most famous work is the series of more than 20 movies he made together with Terence Hill.

June Spencer has surpassed all three others for length of her active career. In 2020, at age 101, she was still active and in her 61st year of playing the role of Peggy Woolley in the BBC's radio soap opera "The Archers".
