Answer: Texas Hold'em

Texas Hold'em has been called the "Cadillac of Poker" because of the skill needed to play it successfully. It is by far the most popular game in card rooms today. In fact, during the WSOP in the summer well more than half of the tournaments are Hold'em tournaments and the Main Event is always No Limit Hold'em. Variations on the game include Limit, Pot Limit, No Limit, and Ante Only among others. The size of the table also varies from the standard nine or ten players at most casinos to games limited to six or eight max as well as heads up. Hold'em utilizes blinds.

Play goes as follows:
1) Players are dealt 2 cards with a round of betting ending with the big blind.
2) After the first round of betting the dealer burns 1 card then deals the flop, the first 3 community cards.
3) A second round of betting takes place starting with the player to the left of the button.
4) The dealer burns another card then deals the turn. 4 cards now make up the board.
5) A third round of betting takes place starting with the player to the left of the button.
6) The dealer burns another card then deals the river. 5 cards now make up the board.
7) A final round of betting takes place then the hands are revealed if there is either a double check or a bet and a call.
2. Each player is dealt four cards then share a five card board. Players must use two cards from their hand with three cards from the board to form the best possible poker hand with the high hand winning.

Answer: Omaha

Omaha is the second most played game both online and in casinos behind Texas Hold'em. The usual variant played is pot-limit Omaha or PLO. Omaha differs from Hold'em in that you start with 4 cards instead of 2 but only use 2 cards to make your hand and must use 2. In Hold'em you don't have to use any. Because of this fact, Omaha is more a game about draws and outs than it is about having a set hand. Many times a player can be favored to win a hand even if he does not yet have the best hand because of how many outs he has. Omaha utilizes blinds. Tables are usually 8 handed max.

Play goes as follows:
1) Players are dealt 4 cards with a round of betting ending with the big blind.
Players must use 2 of their hole cards but only 2 and 3 board cards to make the best hand possible.
3. Each player is dealt two cards down, four cards up, then one card down. Players use five cards to form the best possible poker hand with the high hand winning.

Answer: Seven Card Stud

Prior to the rise in popularity of Texas Hold'em Seven Card Stud was the most popular game. Hold'em is in fact a variation on it. Play goes as follows:

Answer: Five Card Draw

This poker game is rarely seen in casinos or tournaments and is usually played only in home games. Normally only an ante is used and no blinds. Basically each player is dealt 5 cards face down and betting begins with the player on the dealer's left. One variation requires a player to have Jacks or Better to open.

This means his hand value has to be a pair of Jacks or better. If he does not he checks until someone can open the pot. If no one can everyone re-antes and the cards are dealt again. Once the pot is open then the players who stay in are allowed to throw away cards to get new ones.

In one variation a player cannot take more than 3 cards unless they hold an Ace. Once the draw is done another round of betting ensues started by the player who opened the pot. Once all betting is concluded the hands are shown down to determine a winner.
6. Each player is dealt one card down and four cards up. After betting rounds, high hand wins.

Answer: Five Card Stud

Five Card Stud is one of the oldest poker games dating back to the Civil War where it was very popular. Although it was featured in the first four years of the WSOP, it has not been featured since. Billy Boyd won all four of the Five Card Stud tournaments offered in the early years.

Play goes as follows:
1) Every player is dealt 1 card down and 1 card up. The player with the lowest card showing must bet the bring-in. Any player wishing to continue must then bet the completion. After that any raising is done in accordance with the limits.
2) The dealer burns a card then deals a card face up to each remaining player. Betting is in accordance with the limits and starts with the player who has the highest hand showing on his board.
3) The dealer burns a card then deals a card face up to each remaining player. Each remaining player now has 3 cards showing. Betting is in accordance with the limits and starts with the player who has the highest hand showing on his board.
4) The dealer burns a card then deals a card face up to each remaining player. Each remaining player now has 4 cards showing. Betting is in accordance with the limits and starts with the player who has the highest hand showing on his board.
5) Once betting is concluded the hands are exposed and the high hand wins.
7. Each player is dealt five cards and can discard any of those cards three times for new cards. After betting rounds, low hand wins.

Answer: 2-7 Triple Draw

2-7 Triple Draw, also called Deuce to Seven Triple Draw, is a lowball game with special rules. Aces are always high. Straights and flushes count. This means the best possible hand is 23457 unsuited. Hence the name. The game is a blind game like Hold'em or Omaha. It is also a limit game. There is a single draw variation that is usually played no limit. Both variations have their own tournaments at the WSOP and are part of the mixed game line ups such as Dealer's Choice.

Play goes as follows:
1) As in all blind games, the deal starts with the small blind and proceeds clockwise. Players are dealt 1 card down at a time until every player has 5 cards. Betting starts left of the big blind as in all blind games and is governed by the limits.
2) Once betting is completed, the first drawing round begins. Starting with the first player on the dealer's left still in the hand, the player announces how many cards he would like to discard and receives new ones in return. The dealer deals all of the cards to that player at once before moving on to the next player. A player can choose to stand pat and not throw away any cards at all. If a player chooses to discard all 5 cards (which is very rare), the dealer will only deal them 4 new cards at that time. The fifth card will be dealt after all other players have had a chance to draw. If the player discarding all 5 cards is last to be dealt cards, the dealer will deal them 4 cards at once, then burn 1 card before dealing the player his fifth card.
3) A second round of betting takes place before a second round of draws. A player who stood pat in the first round can draw in the second or third rounds if he so desires.
4) A third round of betting takes before a third round of draws.
5) A final round of betting takes place then the hands are shown down. The hand with the lowest high card wins. If two players have the same high card then the next card is checked and so on until one of them has a lower card. Low hand wins.
8. Each player is dealt four cards and can discard any of those cards three times for new cards. After betting rounds, low hand wins.

Answer: Badugi

Badugi is a lowball game played very much like 2-7 Triple Draw but the player only gets 4 cards instead of 5. Flushes count but straights do not. The Ace is always low. The best Badugi hand is A234 all different suits. This is called a Badugi. Badugi is part of many of the mixed games at the WSOP and in card rooms across the world. The game is a blind game like Hold'em or Omaha. It is also a limit game.

Play goes as follows:
1) As in all blind games, the deal starts with the small blind and proceeds clockwise. Players are dealt 1 card down at a time until every player has 4 cards.
3) A second round of betting takes place before a second round of draws. A player who stood pat in the first round can draw in the second or third rounds if he so desires.
4) A third round of betting takes before a third round of draws.
5) A final round of betting takes place then the hands are shown down. Any card that either matches in suit or rank another card in your hand makes that card void. The best hand is A234 all of different suits. The best 3 card hand is A23 all of different suits. The player with the most cards and lowest card wins the hand.
9. Each player is dealt three cards but must discard one during play then share a five card board. Players use any combination of five cards from their hand and the board to form their hand with the high hand winning.

Answer: Crazy Pineapple

Crazy Pineapple is a variant of Texas Hold'em in which the player is dealt 3 cards instead of 2 but must discard 1 card during the course of play. All other Texas Hold'em rules apply.

Play goes as follows:
1) Players are dealt 3 cards with a round of betting ending with the big blind.
2) After the first round of betting the dealer burns 1 card then deals the flop, the first 3 community cards. Players must now discard 1 of their hole cards to continue with the hand. This leaves them with 2 just like Hold'em.
10. Each player is dealt four cards then share a five card board. Players try to form either the best possible poker hand or the lowest possible hand or both with the high hand and qualifying low hand splitting the pot.

Answer: Omaha 8

Omaha 8, also known as Omaha 8 or Better, is a high/low split game in which the low must meet certain qualifications otherwise it does not count. In Omaha Hi/Low the low hand does not have to qualify but in Omaha 8 it does. The low hand must have no card over an Eight in order to qualify to win the low side of the pot. For the low side, straights and flushes do not count and the A-5 low rules apply. If no hand qualifies then the pot can only be won by the high hand.

Play goes as follows:
1) Players are dealt 4 cards with a round of betting ending with the big blind.
Players must use 2 of their hole cards but only 2 and 3 board cards to make either the best hand possible or the best qualifying low hand possible.

In this game the Wheel is one of the most powerful hands because it qualifies as both a very strong high hand and the nut low.
