Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What grade was AJ in for this book?

Answer: 2nd grade

The book starts out on AJ's first day of second grade. Miss Daisy was taking attendance and having every student stand up to say their name and a fact about themselves. AJ announced he hated school as his fact.
2. How does AJ say kids should learn all they need to know?

Answer: watching TV

AJ thinks the most important things in life are learned from the TV. He claims that you learn which breakfast cereal tastes best, what toys you should buy, and which shampoo makes your hair the shiniest.
3. AJ believes that the principal's office is in the dungeon in the basement. What does he think happens to kids who are sent there?

Answer: They are forced to listen to their parents' old CDs.

Billy told AJ that is what happens. AJ figures it has to be horrible. Principal Klutz corrected them and told them the dungeon was on the third floor.
4. What would Miss Daisy do when her students would complain about their subjects?

Answer: She would say she didn't like to do them either.

Miss Daisy would tell them she didn't like the subject either. She would always say that she didn't even know how to do it. Instead, she would have the class teach her about it.
5. The kids did not catch on that Miss Daisy was faking about not knowing how to do the school work. Instead what did they think?

Answer: She might be an imposter or a criminal.

The kids were talking at lunch and figured something was wrong. They knew a teacher should know how to read and do math. They had a few ideas, but the biggest ideas were that she was a criminal or imposter. They thought she may be hiding from the police for being a horse thief, cattle rustler, or parking on the yellow line on the curb.
6. What was the big idea the boys had at recess?

Answer: buy the school

Ryan's dad worked at a big company who bought other companies. Ryan said they should gather all their money and buy the school. They decided they would turn it into a video arcade and ride skateboards in the hallway. AJ contributed a nickel, three pennies, and a LifeSaver.
7. What did AJ think about the school nurse?

Answer: She was a spy.

She has to be a spy. That is the why she weighs and measures all the kids. Spies gather information. She uses a poster in her office with a big E on top to send mystery spy messages. She even has cool spy tools, like a metal ruler that stretches out. When you push a button the whole thing disappears back into her hand again.
8. AJ told the class what he wanted to be when he grew up. Miss Daisy later used this for the math lesson. What did AJ want to be?

Answer: Football player

AJ wanted to be a football player. Miss Daisy explained how football and a dollar were alike. They are both made from four quarters. A football field has 100 yards and a dollar has 100 cents. Half the field is the 50 yard line, just like half a dollar is 50 cents.
9. Miss Daisy let the kids talk to Principal Klutz about their idea to buy the school. He said he couldn't sell it. What other option did he give the kids?

Answer: rent the school for a night

Mr. Klutz gave the kids an offer. He told them if they could collectively read a million pages, he would let them rent the school for a night. They would have a video game night and he would wear a gorilla suit.
10. Complete the quote by AJ. "I played just about every video game in the gym. After a few hours of staring into screens, I had a splitting headache, my hands hurt, and I thought my eyes were going to fall out of my head. It was the ________________ night of my life."

Answer: greatest

They did it! The students read a million pages. Mr. Klutz was true to his word and let them play video games in the gym all night while he wore a gorilla suit.
