Dachau was established on March 22, 1933. It was located near Munich, Germany and initially was used primarily for political opponents of the Nazis.

Hitler was born in the year 1889. He committed suicide on April 30, 1945.

Answer: Auschwitz-Birkenau

Auschwitz-Birkenau was established in 1940. It was both a death and a slave labor camp.
4. What concentration camp held only women prisoners?

Answer: Ravensbrück

Ravensbrueck was built in 1939 and was located north of Berlin.
5. On what date did American soldiers liberate Mauthausen concentration camp?

Answer: May 5, 1945

Mauthausen was a camp for men. It was located in Upper Austria. The SS made it was one of the harshest camps. Many people died, by being thrown off cliffs; others died of exhaustion.
6. Did the Nazis kill other groups of people besides the Jews?

Answer: Yes

Besides Jews, the Nazis killed political opponents, homosexuals, incurables, Roma ('gypsies), people who helped these groups and Jehovah's Witnesses, or anyone else that did not fit into the 'Aryan Race' or into the Nazi scheme of things.

Answer: November 1940

In 1940, the Jews living in Warsaw and nearby areas were sent to live in the Warsaw Ghetto by the Nazis. They lived in terrible conditions which rapidly deteriorated. Many of the Jews that lived there were sent to Treblinka in 1942-43.

Answer: Because the Olympics were held in Berlin

They took down these signs for the Olympics, so the rest of the world would not see how Jews were being treated. Then the Nazis put them back up after the Olympics were over.

Answer: Westerbork

Anne Frank, her family, and the rest of the people that were in the secret annex, were held at Westerbork. They were held there from August 8, 1944 to September 3, 1944, before being taken to other concentration camps.
10. Who was the person that did cruel and inhuman research on twins, at a major death camp?

Answer: Josef Mengele

After the war Mengele escaped to South America, where he lived under another name until he died in 1979. In 1985 the body of one Wolfgang Gerhart was identified as Mengele.
