Answer: The Flying Cloud

Undoubtedly, the heroes of the campaign will be urged to investigate the falling star out on Devil's Elbow if they aren't already interested in doing so, but they will probably be beaten there by several other eager parties looking to mine whatever landed there for themselves. Regardless, the fastest route there will be with a man named Josper Creesy who's using The Flying Cloud to make a travel record to Andorran to the far southeast (a long way around the coast past Varisia and Cheliax). Unfortunately, the trip isn't an easy one as someone will pay pirates to sabotage the overnight journey.

Answer: The Dwarves

Two days before the Flying Cloud leaves for Devil's Elbow, another ship known as the Mithril Wave heads out with prospecting dwarves in an attempt to harvest whatever they can from the fallen star for monetary gain. They aren't the only ones though-- a group of researchers can be found on the island and at least a couple other groups of adventurers are out there (and maybe even some pirates).

The Dwarves, however, are likely the easiest to hear about through the Riddleport grapevine. Gravin Goldhammer, the leader of the expedition, will head back to the mainland as soon as the party arrives on Devil's Elbow, refusing to wait, even if that means commissioning Josper Creesy to take him back.

Answer: Witchlight

Arriving at Devil's Elbow will most likely set visitors on the uphill path to Witchlight, the only former settlement on the island, now just a heap of ruins a the center of a wide bay. Here is likely where visitors will get their first look at some of the effects the falling star has had on the island since the ruined storehouse here contains some Void Zombies and hints at the upcoming battles.

It's also the final holdout of a group of cyphermage researchers on the island who arrived to investigate the recent events; they can be found in the dilapidated watchtower.

Answer: Samaritha Beldusk

Samaritha Beldusk, who once took a job at the Gold Goblin no more than a week or so before the events on Devil's Island, finally got the chance to go out in the field as a Cyphermage-in-training under the tutelage of Fenella Bromathan, but after their arrival three days before the party, they came to find out about the horrors that arrived on the island with the fallen star. Samaritha leads the survivors when the heroes come across Witchlight, signalling from the highest window with Pyrotechnics, and she'll fight alongside them if need be.

Answer: Akata

The Akatas are void creatures that are not naturally found in Golarion, but the arrival of the fallen star seems to bring with it these four-legged, otherworldly creatures whose bite can transform victims into Void Zombies. The Akatas perform a siege on the watchtower in Witchlight after the party arrives and, very likely, the tower won't survive the attack, instead tumbling into the sea (and potentially with the heroes inside of it, struggling to brace themselves in the battle. Because of how many Akatas are on the island, it's likely they'll reappear throughout the adventure.

Answer: Two

There are lighthouses on the westernmost point of the island and the easternmost point, both of which were constructed to help ships navigate around the treacherous cliffs of the crescent. The western lighthouse fell to ruin quickly and really isn't too important (it contains some centipede swarms, if you're curious) but the eastern lighthouse is interesting because it's haunted by Yaris Neraken, who arrived on devil's Elbow and tried to colonize it many years earlier.

He jumped from its roof for reasons that could be revealed in the story.

The Drow on the island have kept him at bay, but he would normally attack visitors.

Answer: He's been the subject of mind control

Clegg Zincher's encampment is closer to the eastern end of the island and it brings the heroes one step closer to uncovering the truth behind what's gone on on Devil's Elbow. Zincher, originally on the island to reap the rewards of skymetal for himself, accidentally comes across the Drow during his time there and falls under their suggestive control before the party even arrives.

The charm placed upon Zincher can be identified by savvy people, but even so they'll need to read between the lines to realize that he's fighting on somewhat the same side as they are. If they stay around, the camp will probably be attacked as well (by the Akatas).

Answer: Siren

Virashi, Varis' former lover, can be found in a cavern offshoot of the sea caves on Devil's Elbow, where the Drow have, coincidentally, made their home for the time being due to its relative shelter (especially considering the magic they've been using). If anyone stumbles into Varashi's chamber she will appear and use her powers to captivate them, but if they can prove that they know of Varis' whereabouts, she may be cooperative, giving intel on the Drow in one of the nearby chambers. If the heroes destroyed Varis, thus freeing his spirit, Varashi will already have a relaxed demeanour and grant a buff before vanishing.

Answer: Shindiira

Shindiira Misraria was never born into House Azrinae, but it's apparent from her presence (and her journal, found in the largest cavern of the Devil's Elbow sea caves) that she's been accepted into the clan to work on bringing down the fallen star. It becomes clear that she hates Depora Azrinae, the boss of the campaign's first chapter ('Shadow in the Sky') but they will work side by side along with another Drow, a druid named Xakihn, to enact their plan. Defeating her will reveal a number of scientific notes that will be of great use in the coming adventures.

Answer: Celwynvian

Amongst Shindiira's belongings will be a trunk containing luxurious outfits and jewellery, but deeper within will be maps, scroll cases, and a journal, all of which hint at the plans being formulated by the Drow. There are three books in the trunk, the first of which grants a Dungeoneering bonus, the second of which contains information about Varisian customs, and the third of which is personal, discussing Depora and a male Drow named Nolveniss, who plays a big role in the next chapter of the campaign.

The Shin'Rakorath will ultimately decipher the information gathered and suggest the next course of action.
