Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's start off with a joke from the hilarious "Spamalot." Who or what plays the Killer Rabbit in the musical?

Answer: A puppet rabbit

Someone is behind the bush, making the hand puppet move, then throws it onto the first unsuspecting knight, who catches it and pretends it is biting his face off! So funny!
2. Now onto another really hilarious musical- "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"! What kind of candy ingredient does Freddy taste and then spit into Lawrence's hand?

Answer: Nougat

He sits down and takes a piece of candy from Lawrence's candy jar. He then starts screaming "Ew, ew! Nougat! Ew," and runs around, trying to find a place to spit the nougat out. He decides to spit it out in Lawrence's hand, while Lawrence just stands there, disgusted. Freddy then wipes his own hands on one of Lawrence's chairs! This is a hilarious scene!
3. Next joke, from "Wicked"! Which "Wizard of Oz" reference is not parodied in "Wicked"?

Answer: "Somewhere over the rainbow"

When one of the characters asks another character "What's in the punch?," the other responds with "peaches, and mangoes, and pears" (or some combination of friuts ending with pears), to which the other character says "Oh my!" When Elphaba appears in Nessarose's mirror, Nessarose asks "Why are you here?," and Elphaba responds, "Well, there's no place like home!" And you hear Dorothy wailing in the background while Glinda mentions her and her dog; "Just let the little farm girl go and her dog Dodo!"
4. Now, a question from "Honk!"! From the song "The Collage," complete these lyrics; "When Ida said she'd go, I had to let her. It's a shame because this ________ suits her better... There's no joy in motherhood!"

Answer: apron

This is after Ida goes in search of Ugly, and Drake is stuck at home with the duckings, who are now the equivalent of teenagers! Drake has to do all the chores, including wearing the apron, and take care of the duckings, which unfolds into a funny scene when the ducklings come home late.

This song parodies a song sung earlier on in the show by Ida right before the duckings are born. The original song is called "The Joy of Mothehood."
5. There are many funny jokes in "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," but most of them come after the sentence, "Can you please use that in a sentence!" Who is the character who thinks up all these cleverly hilarious phrases?

Answer: Vice Principal Panch

Yes, Panch is the guy who reads the sentences, says the words, and everything! If you've seen the show, you know the sentences he makes up are hilarious!
6. A sort of running joke throughout the musical "Brooklyn" is that the outfits made all out of garbage! For example, when Brooklyn is singing in the diva showdown concert at the end, what is her dress made of?

Answer: I love NY bags

Other funny outfits include a dress of garbage bags and caution tape, a head dress of Dorito bags, and fake microphones made of bottles!
7. Back to "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"! At the end, right before the song "Dirty Rotten Number," Freddy compliments Lawrence, and Lawrence responds with "I hope you can still say that when I'm old and grey." What witty remark does Freddy respond with?

Answer: I just did

"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" is a truly funny musical! There are so many physical, not to mention clever jokes that keep you entertained the whole time!
8. Now to a cleverly funny musical- "Into the Woods." After the Baker's wife is killed, and Jack and the Witch tell the Baker this, what does Jack say to try to "comfort" the Baker?

Answer: "I buried her in a footprint"

Of course, he means one of the Giant's wife's huge footprints! I thought this was one of the most funny lines in the show! This guy's wife just died, and this little kid insists on telling him that his wife was buried in a footprint- hilarious!
9. Now for a classic, but very funny, musical- "Annie"! When one of the orphans tells Ms. Hannigan- "Annie was on the radio!," she replied with "Yea, I know. Next thing you know..."

Answer: "they'll make a musical about her!"

This is one of the funniest lines in the show! Miss Hannigan finally speaks the truth!
10. And finally, another from "Spamalot"! In the "Finale", who hits Prince Herbert's father over the head with a shovel?

Answer: Sir Lancelot

"For this is the show that ends like this!" I hope you enjoyed this quiz on some truly roll-on-the-floor-of-the-theater-laughing musicals!
