10 Question Humanities Quiz: Miss Saigon | Musicals

This is my first quiz and I hope you enjoy it. It's pretty simple, I'll write the lyrics of the song and you either continue the lyric or tell me who sang it, based on what I'm asking. Peace.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who sings the line "Take one last look at me, don't forget what you see..."?

Answer: Kim

Kim sings this to her son near the end, before she kills herself. "... You will be with your father now. Give all your love to him when I am gone. Take one last look at me, don't forget what you see..." It's very heartwarming.
2. Who sings the line "Tonight you'll be Miss Jumped-Upon"?

Answer: Gigi

She sings this at the very start of the show, while the girls are dressing up for their night job.
3. Who sings the line "In a way I am glad I am meeting you first. Understand, you were only a name till tonight. I don't know how I'd feel if our roles were reversed."?

Answer: Ellen

When Ellen and Kim finally meet in room 317. Unfortunately, John and Chris went out to look for Kim, leaving Ellen in the room when Kim drops by.
4. Who sings the line "My child has no future, like the dust of life! He must come back to my place! Tell me so to my face!"?

Answer: Kim

Excellent vocal work there. Kim yells/sings this at Ellen after Ellen tells her of her and Chris's decision about Tam. I watched it with Lea Salonga playing. Man, she IS good.
5. Who sings the line: "They're called Bui-Doi, the dust of life"?

Answer: John

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is the only solo John sings, right? So for those of you who watched the Broadway play, that should've been easy.
6. Complete the lyric: "I'm 17 and I'm new here today. The village I come from seems so far away. All of the girls know much more what to say, but I know..."

Answer: I have a heart like the sea a million dreams are in me.

And afterwards, Chris stares at Kim and sings, "Good Jesus, John, who is she?"
7. Complete the lyric: "Why God? Why this face? Why such beauty in this place? I liked my memories as they were..."

Answer: but now I'll leave rememb'ring her.

From the song "Why God" which Chris sings after he and Kim share the night together.
8. Complete the lyric: "Played on a solo saxophone. It's telling me to hold you tight and dance..."

Answer: like it's the last night of the world.

One of the more famous songs of the play, "The Last Night of The World". I love the sound of a saxophone. It sounds so sultry. And sexy too. If there's anybody out there who knows how to play a sax, is it easy to learn and play? :)
9. Complete the lyric: "Last night I watched him sleeping, my body pressed to him. And then he started speaking. The name I heard him speak was Kim. Yes, I know that was years ago..."

Answer: but when moonlight fills my room.

"Last night I watched him sleeping, my body pressed to him. And then he started speaking. The name I heard him speak was Kim. Yes, I know that was years ago but when moonlight fills my room, I know you are here still. I still, I still believe you will return..." Sorry, Kim.

While you're reminiscing and loving Chris still, your jerk of a husband Chris married another woman while you were scraping for a living, trying to provide for his son. I'm sorry, but I really wish that Chris and Kim made it together somehow. Of course, if that happened, the play wouldn't be the play it is today.
10. Complete the lyric: "Please - don't you see that's what I live for? I have him and nothing more. At night..."

Answer: everything that's not him disappears behind my door.

Very touching song. Makes me cry every time I hear it. You can really feel Kim's loyalty and pain here.
