Avallach was one of the few rulers of Atlantis to survie the sinking of Atlantis. After his first wife Briseis was killed by Nestor's minions he remarried Lile, who was the mother of Morgian. After the sinking of Atlantis he went to to Britain, where he made an alliance with King Elphin. He lived there until his death.

Charis's mother died while Charis was still a child. As soon as she was old enough she became a famous bull dancer as captain of the Gulls. She was one of the few to heed the messages of Throm, who warned of the sinking of Atlantis. She later married Taliesin and gave birth to Myrddin or Merlin.

Seithenin was thought to be a close confidant of Avallach and a strong ally until his sudden declaration for Nestor. He was killed by Belyn's ramming of his ship.

Hugderran was another of the nine kings of Atlantis. He also remained neutral.

Musaeus was another of the nine kings. He fought valiantly for Avallach during the war but died in the downfall of Atlantis.

Elaine was Charis's aunt. She was close friends with Briseis, the wife of Avallach. She escaped the ruin of Atlantis but her ship was lost at sea.

Kian drove the horses of Avallach with great skill. He also was Avallach's oldest son and heir.

Rhonwhyn was a beautiful young woman whom Elphin met when he went to find a woman to suckle Taliesin. She went with him when they fled their homes to find safety from the northern barbarians.

Danea was also an enchantress and she ruled Atlantis after her husband's death for the short time that peace lasted. She died in the downfall of Atlantis.

Nestor was an evil, conniving king of Atlantis who sought to become High King. He died in the downfall of Atlantis.

Lile was a merchant's daughter who was summoned to care for the wounded Avallach. She was a great healer who learned her skill from a slave her father owned.
