Galanna is Aerin's cousin, and nemesis. Harimad and Senay are both in "The Blue Sword," also by Robin McKinley.
2. "The Hero and the Crown" is a prequel to what book?

Answer: The Blue Sword

"The Blue Sword," published in 1982 had many references to the great legend of Lady Aerin: Dragon-Killer. "The Hero and the Crown" tells us her story.
3. In what land is this book set?

Answer: Damar

Damar is the land in many Robin McKinley books, including "Deerskin" and "A Knot in the Grain" as well as "The Blue Sword" and "The Hero and the Crown."
4. Who is the "oracle" in the mountains?

Answer: Luthe

Luthe is a mage. He has been for as long as can be remembered. Tor and Perlith are both cousins to Aerin and Gandalf is from "The Lord of the Rings."
5. What is Maur?

Answer: a dragon

Maur is the black dragon, one of the great dragons of old. Aerin fights him, barely manages to win, and nearly dies because of him.

Perlith is Aerin's cousin, nemesis and husband to Galanna. Agsded is Aerin's uncle and enemy to Damar. Thurra is the ruler of the North in "The Blue Sword."

Astzoran is also known as redroot. Aerin gets some outside of the city, with Teka's help. Athelus, or kingsfoil, plays an important role in "The Lord of the Rings." Aspartame is an artificial sweetener and aspirin is a pain reliever.

Answer: kelar

"The Gift" is properly called kelar and it is power, usually possessed by the royal family; kenet is the ointment to protect against dragonfire burns; Katah is one of Aerin's older cousins; kiester is a slang term for your rear end.
9. The wild dogs are called folstza and the wild cats are called yerig.

Answer: false

It is actually the other way around. The queen yerig has only one eye. The king folstza is a black cat.
10. How is Agsded defeated?

Answer: dragonstone and surka

Aerin was able to hold him off with Gonturan (the Blue Sword) but defeated him when she threw her surka wreath with the dragonstone at him.
