Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. He Knows You're Alone

Tom Hanks makes his acting debut in this early 1980 slasher. It also stars Caitlin O'Heaney, Elizabeth Kemp, Don Scardino, and Tom Rolfing. A killer stalks a woman a weekend before her wedding...while leaving a bloody trail of murder! This film is directed by Armand Mastroianni, and the tagline is "Every girl is frightened the night before her wedding.

But this time...there's good reason!"
2. Happy Birthday To Me

This early slasher flick is directed by J. Lee Thompson. It stars Melissa Sue Anderson as Virginia. Glenn Ford, Tracey Bregman and Matt Craven also star. What's great about this film is that it is not your typical slasher. It is also part suspenseful drama with a twist ending and "six of the most bizarre murders you will ever see". Someone is killing off all of Virginia's friends around her 18th birthday, and several suspects keep the viewer guessing all the way to the end of the film.
3. Basket Case

Basket Case is a real doozy of a gem from the year 1982. It follows twin brothers Duane and Belial Bradley, who were separated violently as children, leaving them both very bitter and out for revenge against the cruel doctors who performed the horrible procedure! Belial is horribly deformed and is kept and carried around in a large wicker basket by Duane.

The worst thing anyone could do is get in the way of the brothers exacting their revenge! This film is followed by two sequels, with each one being more cheesy than the one before it. Frank Henenlotter is the director of this memorable horror classic.
4. Sleepaway Camp

The 1983 horror movie 'Sleepaway Camp' is a film one would not forget after watching it. Definitely well before its time, it stars iconic scream queen Felissa Rose as Angela. She and her cousin Ricky are sent to Camp Arawak for the summer. While there, campers, counsellors and others are disappearing one by one.

There is a killer at camp, and the surprise twist at the end makes this a must watch for genre fans.
5. Silent Madness

This obscure 1984 slasher is a 3D movie, making the terror and gruesome kills even more fun. Howard Johns is a homicidal maniac who was accidently released back into society from a New Jersey mental institution. Of course as expected, he uses this major error as a way to go on a manic killing spree, victimizing anyone who gets in his way.

This non-mainstream horror film is directed and produced by Simon Nuchtern.
6. The Stuff

This fun and entertaining horror gem from the year 1985 is directed by Larry Cohen, who is also famous for the films 'It's Alive {1974), 'It Lives Again' (1978), 'Full Moon High' (1981), 'Q' (1982) as well as many others. In this odd and original film, people become addicted to a delicious, creamy, ice cream-like dessert that is just so good, they can't stop eating it.

Unfortunately, it's not the extra calories they have to worry about. This creamy goodness has severe side effects. It attacks the brain and causes the ones who consume it to become murderous zombies! Michael Moriarty, Garrett Morris, and Paul Sorvino star.
7. Slaughter High

The 1986 horror film 'Slaughter High' falls into the the typical plot of someone exacting revenge after a cruel prank gone wrong. Poor Marty Rantzen is tormented by his classmates and left disfigured due to a prank that went awry in the high school lab. Ten years later a group of friends attend a ten year high school reunion in the same school, only it is long abandoned and they realize that they were the only ones who were invited.

They still decide to stay and party, not knowing that the school caretaker is murdered. Someone is quietly roaming the school halls in a mask and jester hat, and only has revenge on their mind!
8. Blood Rage

'It's Not Cranberry Sauce' is the tagline to this classic horror slasher from the year 1987. 'Blood Rage' stars Louise Lasser and Mark Soper. What makes this slasher unique is that it's set at Thanksgiving: to this day not too many horror films are set around that holiday. Terry and Todd are twin brothers, who while at the drive-in with their mother and her boyfriend, decide to quietly exit the vehicle and roam the drive-in. Terry decides to brutally murder a teen and frames his twin brother Todd, who is then locked away in an asylum for the crime his brother committed. Ten years later on Thanksgiving, Todd escapes, and now people are being stalked and killed one by one at Shadow Woods apartments!
9. Pumpkinhead

This 1988 horror film is about a very large creature that can be summoned by a witch and used for revenge. A quiet man named Ed Harley does exactly that when his young son Billy is accidently killed by a teenager racing around carelessly on a dirt bike.

While the other teens in the group are pleading with Ed that it was all just an accident, Ed is enraged, believing that the group of irresponsible teens just didn't care about the consequences of their actions. He goes deep into the woods to find the town witch, a ritual is performed, and Pumpkinhead is summoned to do Ed's bidding.

This film spawned several sequels and is now considered a cult classic among horror fans!
10. Flesh Eating Mothers

This bizarre horror film from 1989 is quite obscure and original. The women in a suburban town all contract a rare disease that turns them into rabid cannibals, which of course explains the title. This movie contains several gruesome scenes of them eating everyone, from family members to pets and neighbors! The gore and effects are graphic and exaggerated which gives the film a cult status for a film that's "so bad it's good"!
