Johnny Boz was a retired rock star turned bar owner. He was last seen with Catherine Tramell, a beautiful and wealthy author who had previously published a novel about a rock star murdered in the same manner. She was the original prime suspect.

Catherine stated that she and Johnny just had sexual relations. She met Boz at his club the night of the murder. She claimed they had a drink and left together, but Catherine wanted to go home so they parted ways.

This was said when Catherine was being interrogated. She lit up a cigarette and smoked it all the way through while the detectives questioned her. The line was later used by Nick when he was questioned for Nilsen's murder.
