Time Bandits Trivia Quiz

Answer: Kevin

The time bandits enter Kevin's bedroom through his wardrobe. At first the bandits are frightened by Kevin's flashlight, mistaking the glow for the Supreme Being. Once they realize Kevin is just a boy, they attack him. The Supreme Being appears, demanding, "Return what you have stolen from me. Return, return the map.

It will bring you great danger. Stop now". To escape the ever-approaching giant glowing head, Kevin helps the bandits push his moveable bedroom wall. Kevin was played by Craig Warnock.

Answer: Repairs

The bandits helped the Supreme Being with the creation of the world and the universe. Their new position involves the use of a map to repair holes in space and time. But the bandits have a better idea: "You see, to be quite frank, Kevin, the fabric of the universe is far from perfect.

It was a bit of a botched job, you see. We only had seven days to make it. And that's where this comes in. This is the only map of all the holes. Well, why repair them? Why not use them to get stinking rich?".

Answer: Napoleon

The first time hole brings the bandits to the battle of Castiglione in 1796. The bandits, who describe themselves as international criminals, perform a song for Napoleon:
"Like the wallpaper sticks to the wall
Like the seashore sticks to the sea
Like you never get rid of your shadow, boy
You'll never get rid of me.
Me and my shadow
Strolling down the avenue.
Me and my shadow
Not a soul to tell our troubles to.
We fit together
And when it's twelve o'clock, we climb the stairs.
We never knock, cause nobody's there.
Me and my shadow
All alone and feelin blue."
After the show, Napoleon develops an instant affinity for the bandits because of their small stature, and appoints them as his generals. In this capacity, the bandits are able to infiltrate his palace. They wait for him to overindulge in wine, and proceed to steal whatever they can, including his golden hand. Napoleon was played by Ian Holm.

Answer: Randall

Randall: "Do you want to be leader of this gang?"
Strutter: "No. We agreed, no leader."
Randall: "Right. So shut up and do as I say."
Even though the bandits have no "official" leader, Randall positions himself in that role. The late David Rappaport played Randall.

Answer: two pennies

Robin Hood (played by John Cleese) insists that the bandits meet the poor, who will be receiving the riches they stole from Napoleon. "Oh, you must meet them. I just know you'll like them. Charming people. Of course, they haven't got two pennies to rub together, but then, that's because they're poor." He proceeds to call forth the poor, who receive a piece of Napolean's wealth, and a punch in the face by Robin Hood's sidekick.

Evil Genius: "When I have the map, I will be free, and the world will be different, because I have understanding."
Robert: "Understanding of what, master?"
Evil Genius: "Digital watches. And soon I will have understanding of videocassette recorders and car telephones. And when I have understanding of them, I shall have understanding of computers. And when I have understanding of computers, I shall be the Supreme Being! God isn't interested in technology. He knows nothing of the potential of the microchip or the silicon revolution. Look how he spends his time: forty-three species of parrots! Nipples for men!"

Answer: Agamemnon

King Agamemnon is the leader of the Greek forces during the Trojan War. Kevin is thrilled to find himself in ancient Greece, and asks Agamemnon if he can stay permanently. A ceremony is performed in which Kevin becomes the heir to the throne. Unfortunately, the bandits show up and force Kevin to leave. Sean Connery played the notorious King in the movie.

Answer: Titanic

The bandits enjoy a little rest and champagne while on the ship. Kevin is angry at the bandits for taking him away from ancient Greece. The hilarious couple Vincent and Pansy, who were also featured with Robin Hood, appear as passengers on the ship.

Answer: Og

The Evil Genius influences the bandits through mind-control to bring them to his Fortress of Ultimate Darkness, in order to procure the map. Og, who is the strong silent type, suddenly has an idea: "There is a place where we could find the greatest thing a man could want. The goal of everybody's hopes and dreams. The most fabulous object in the world".

Answer: Time of Legends

Winston and his wife live aboard a ship, which, as the bandits discover, is the hat for a giant. Winston pulls aboard the bandits in a fishing net. Winston's wife intends to make the bandits into dinner, and orders Winston to put them into a large cauldron. Winston, who has an extremely bad back, has trouble picking up Kevin. Kevin tells Winston that he knows a way to help his sore back. Winston ends up overboard, along with his wife, thanks to the cleverness of Kevin!

Answer: Darkness

The Evil Genius is unable to leave the fortress. The Supreme Being has trapped him within the dark walls. Once he procures the map, the Evil Genius plans to take over the world. David Warner was the mastermind behind the Evil Genius.

Answer: Benson

"Oh Benson, dear Benson, you are so mercifully free of the ravages of intelligence." The Evil Genius can apparently tranform beings into animals. He can also blow people up by the flick of his wrist.

Answer: Fidget

Fidget is squashed by a falling column. The other bandits are quite distressed by the death of Fidget. When the Supreme Being appears, he resurrects Fidget, saying: "Dead? No excuse for laying off work".

Answer: toaster oven

Kevin finds himself back in his smoke-filled house. He is rescued by a firefighter, who bears an uncanny resemblance to King Agamemnon. The toaster oven is blamed for the cause of the fire. Kevin's parents open the door of the oven, only to find a charred object inside. Kevin warns his parents, "Mom! Dad! It's evil! Don't touch it!". But alas, his parents touch the evil and are blown up.

Answer: Terry Gilliam

Terry Gilliam created many animations for "Monty Python's Flying Circus", and directed other movies such as "Brazil", "The Fisher King" and "Twelve Monkeys". John Cleese, a Monty Python alumnist, starred as Robin Hood. Michael Palin, also a Monty Python alumnist, wrote the "Time Bandits" screeplay with Terry Gilliam, and also starred in the movie.
