Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Out of the four names below ending with the letters 'IAH', which one is linked with Solomon, as per 2 Samuel 12:25?

Answer: Jedidiah

Jedidiah was the divinely inspired name for Solomon. 2 Samuel 12:24-25 states God loved Solomon which prompted Nathan the prophet to call him Jedidiah. According to Wikipedia, Jedidiah means 'friend of God'.

Although Jedidiah was the second or blessing name given to Solomon, it never stuck and 2 Samuel 12:25 is the only place in the KJV, NKJV and the NIV where the name can be found.
2. Out of the four names below ending with the letters 'IAH', which one is the writer of an Old Testament book?

Answer: Zechariah

Zechariah is the correct answer. He wrote the book that bears his name and it appears in the Minor Prophet section of the Old Testament. In the Christian Bible, Zechariah is the second last book in the Old Testament and is followed by Malachi. The book of Zechariah consists of fourteen chapters.

It must be pointed out a number of other men are called Zechariah in the Old Testament. Some Bible versions refer to the father of John the Baptist as Zechariah. However, other versions, the KJV and the NKJV included, refer to John's father as Zecharias.
3. Out of the four names below ending with the letters 'IAH', which one was a king of Israel?

Answer: Pekahiah

Pekahiah, the son of Menahem, reigned as king of Israel two years. Pekaniah's reign came to an abrupt end when he was assassinated by Pekah, an officer of the king. According to 2 Kings 15:24, Pekaniah "did evil in the sight of the LORD".

After the assassination, Pekah became king of Israel.
4. Out of the four names below ending with the letters 'IAH', which one, according to 2 Kings 15:32, was a king of Judah?

Answer: Uzziah

Out of the four choices, Uzziah is the only one to serve as king of Judah.
Uzziah, also known as Azariah, was sixteen years old when he became king, replacing his father Amaziah, as per 2 Chronicles 26:1-5. His mother's name was Jekoliah and he reigned fifty-two years.

Uzziah is generally regarded as a good king with Scripture stating, "he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done."

However, he was struck with leprosy near the end of his reign, as part of divine punishment. (See 2 Chronicles 26:16-22 for details.)
5. Out of the four names below ending with the letters 'IAH', which one was the writer of a book in the Old Testament?

Answer: Zephaniah

Zephaniah is the writer of the three-chapter book that bears his name. The book of Zephaniah appears in the Minor Prophet section of the Old Testament. In the Christian Bible, Zephaniah is preceded by Habakkuk and followed by Haggai.

According to Zephaniah 1:1, Zephaniah was the son of Cushi and the grandson of Gedaliah and he prophesied in the days Josiah, king of Judah.

It must be pointed out there are three other men in the Old Testament also called Zephaniah. However, they are relatively minor characters.
6. Out of the four names below ending with the letters 'IAH', which one was shared by at least nine other minor characters in the Old Testament?

Answer: Zebadiah

Zebadiah is a name shared by no less than nine different men in the Old Testament. All of them are minor characters.

Here is the list of the nine men called Zebadiah, as per information provided by Biblegateway.com:

1.) A grandson of Elpaal, a Benjamite of the house of Beriah (1 Chronicles 8:15).
2.) A son of Elpaal, also a Benjamite (1 Chronicles 8:17-18).
3.) A son of Jeroham of Geder, who joined David at Ziklag (1 Chronicles 12:7).
4.) A son of Meshelemiah, a Korhite Levite in David's reign (1 Chronicles 26:1, 2).
5.) A son of Asahel, son of Zeruiah and Joab's brother (1 Chronicles 27:7).
6.) One of the Levites sent forth by Jehoshaphat to teach the people the law (2 Chronicles 17:8).
7.) The son of Ishmael, a prince of Judah, who judged cases in the court established by Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 19:11).
8.) The son of Shephatiah and head of a tribal family (Ezra 8:8).
9.) A priest of the house of Immer who divorced his pagan wife (Ezra 10:20).

For the record, Uriah was the first husband of Bathsheba as well as the name of a priest mentioned in Ezra 8:2. There is no one in the Bible called Davidiah or Jonathaniah.
7. Out of the four names below ending with the letters 'IAH', which one, according to 2 Kings 22:1, became king of Judah when he was only eight years old?

Answer: Josiah

Josiah might have been only eight years old when he became king of Judah but Scripture has lofty praise for him. For example, 2 Kings 22:2 in the NKJV has this to say about Josiah: "And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left."

It was during Josiah's reign Hillkiah, the high priest, found the long lost book of the law. Scripture states Josiah responded by taking decisive action to prohibit the worshipping of false gods in Israel.

Josiah is also mentioned in the genealogy of Christ, as per Matthew 1:10-11.
8. Out of the four placenames below ending with the letters 'IAH', which one, according to 2 Chronicles 3:1, was the name of a mountain on which Solomon constructed the house of the LORD?

Answer: Moriah

Solomon built the house of the LORD on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, as per 2 Chronicles 3:1. The verse states it was the same location where the LORD appeared to David, the father of Solomon. At the time, David was preparing the threshing foor of Ornan the Jebusite.

Chapters 4 through 7 of 2 Chronicles provide details about the house of the LORD.
9. Out of the four names below ending with the letters 'IAH', which one was a prophet of God and the writer of an Old Testament book?

Answer: Obadiah

Obadiah was a prophet of God who wrote an Old Testament book that bears his name. The book of Obadiah is part of the Minor Prophet section in the Christian Bible. It consists of only one chapter and is largely about coming judgement for Edom and Israel's final triumph.

According to notes in the NKJV Study Bible, Edom means red and is named after Esau, the son of Isaac and Rebekah. Genesis 22:25 states Esau was born red. Meanwhile, Genesis 25:29-34 tells of Esau selling his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of red stew.

It must be pointed out there are a number of other men in the Old Testament called Obadiah. However, they are all minor characters.
10. Out of the four names below ending with the letters 'IAH', which one is linked by Christians with Jesus?

Answer: Messiah

Messiah, of course, is the correct answer. Christians believe Jesus was the fulfilment of Old Testament prophecy telling of the coming of the Messiah. Christian Bible scholars point out there are a plethora of verses in the Old Testament showing that Jesus is indeed the Messiah.
