Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Find the match for the number of chapters in the Book of Romans, as per the KJV, NKJV and the NIV.

Answer: 16

Romans, written by Paul the apostle to the Gentiles, contains sixteen chapters in the KJV, NKJV and the NIV. In the order of appearance, Romans is the sixth book in the New Testament. Preceding Romans in order of appearance are Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts.

Many scholars describe Romans as the "flagship of the fleet" of the thirteen books in the New Testament written by Paul.
2. Find the match for the number of chapters in the Gospel of Matthew, as per the KJV, NKJV and the NIV.

Answer: 28

The Gospel of Matthew, the first book in the order of appearance in the New Testament, has twenty-eight chapters. Matthew, a tax collector and a member of Christ's original Twelve Disciples, wrote the book.

One of my favorite Bible verses is Matthew 11:28-30 and it quotes Jesus. The verse in the NKJV states: "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
3. Find the match for the number of chapters in the Book of Revelation, as per the KJV, NKJV and the NIV.

Answer: 22

Revelation, the last book in the Christian Bible, has twenty-two chapters. It was written by John while in exile on the island of Patmos. The contents of the book have challenged and perplexed Christians for two thousand years.

The contents were written after John, believed by many to be the same John who was a member of the original Twelve Disciples, had a vision. The book is addressed to believers in seven different churches in Asia Minor, now present day Turkey. The seven churches are Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Saris, Philadephia and Laodicea. On top of this, Revelation tells the tale of two cities -- Babylon and the New Jerusalem. While Babylon faces a horrific future, Scripture states the New Jerusalem will be the scene of a heavenly existence.
4. Find the match for the number of chapters in the Book of Galatians, as per the KJV, NKJV and the NIV.

Answer: 6

Galatians, written by Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, has six chapters. It is one of thirteen books Paul is credited with writing in the New Testament. The book is actually a letter addressed to believers in the early church in Galatia, a city in Asia Minor, now known as Turkey. In the order of appearance, Galatians is the ninth book in the New Testament.

In addition to Galatians, two other books in the New Testament have six chapters. They are Ephesians and 1 Timothy.
5. Find the match for the number of chapters in the Gospel of Luke, as per the KJV, NKJV and the NIV.

Answer: 24

The Gospel of Luke has twenty-four chapters. The Gospel was written by Luke, a physician and worker in the early church. Luke is also credited with writing Acts. In the order of appearance, Luke is the third book in the New Testament, appearing after Matthew and Mark. It is followed by John.

Luke contains one of my favorite Bible verses. Luke 15:7 quotes Jesus and states in the NKJV: "I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance."
6. Find the match for the number of chapters in the Book of James, as per the KJV, NKJV and the NIV.

Answer: 5

The Book of James has five chapters. While it is generally acknowledged James was the author of the book, no one knows for certain who James actually was. A number of different possibilities have been put forth over the years as to the writer's identity. However, as a number of Bible commentaries point out, James was a common name in New Testament times and the possibilities are many.

Three other books in the New Testament also have five chapters. They are 1 Thessalonians, 1 Peter and 1 John.
7. Find the match for the number of chapters in the Gospel of John, as per the KJV, NKJV and the NIV.

Answer: 21

The Gospel of John has twenty-one chapters. The Gospel was written by John, one of the original Twelve Disciples. In the order of appearance, John is the fourth Gospel in the New Testament. It follows Matthew, Mark and Luke. While the three other Gospels concentrate on Christ's ministry over a three-year-period, John concentrates on the final few weeks of His ministry.

John 3:16 is a verse dear to the hearts of evangelical Christians around the world. The verse, quoting Jesus, states in the NKJV: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
8. Find the match for the number of chapters in the book of Titus, as per the KJV, NKJV and the NIV.

Answer: 3

The Book of Titus has three chapters. It was written by Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, and addressed to Titus, a worker in the early church. Using the NKJV, the name Titus is found twelve times in the New Testament but little is known about him. In 2 Corinthians 8:23, Paul describes Titus as his "partner and fellow worker". Tradition holds he was a Gentile convert in the early church.

In addition to Titus, there are two other books in the New Testament with three chapters. They are 2 Thessalonians and 2 Peter.
9. Find the match for the number of chapters in the Book of Philemon, as per the KJV, NKJV and the NIV.

Answer: 1

Philemon has only one chapter. The book is actually a letter written by Paul to Philemon, the owner of a run-away salve named Onesimus. Paul, an old friend of Philemon's, ended up meeting with Onesimus after he ran away and converted him to Christianity. The letter is a heart-felt plea by Paul urging Philemon to accept Onesimus back as an equal in Christ.

There are three other books in the New Testament with only one chapter. They are 2 John, 3 John and Jude.
10. Find the match for the number of chapters in the Book of Hebrews, as per the KJV, NKJV and the NIV.

Answer: 13

The Book of Hebrews has thirteen chapters. While there is no debate about the number of chapters in the book, no one knows for certain who the author is. Some scholars believe Paul was the author while others believe the book was written by Barnabas or Apollos.

The book was written to Messianic Jews who were backsliding and reverting to customs and traditions from before they became Christians.
