Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which person is found in the book of Genesis, along with Lot?

Answer: Zilpah

Zilpah and Lot are both mentioned in Genesis.

According to Genesis 12:5, Lot was Abraham's nephew. It was Lot's unnamed wife, of course, who was turned into a pillar of salt for her disobedience when she looked back to witness the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah with brimstone and fire.

Zilpah was the handmaiden of Leah and ended up becoming a concubine of Jacob. She was the mother of Gad and Asher, as per Genesis 35:26.

While Zilpah's name appears in only Genesis in the NKJV Bible, Lot's name can be also found in Psalm 83:3, Luke 17:29 and 2 Peter 2:7.
2. Which person is found in the book of Exodus, along with Miriam?

Answer: Zipporah

Zipporah, the wife of Moses, is the correct answer. She was the daughter of Reuel, also known as Jethro. Moses and Zipporah were the parents of Eliezer and Gershom. Using the NKJV, Zipporah's name appears three times and all three occasions are in Exodus.

Miriam was the sister of Moses and Aaron. She assisted her two brothers as they led the Israelites on a forty-year-long journey out of Egypt to Canaan, known as the Promised Land. Miriam's name can be found in five different books in the NKJV -- Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, 1 Chronicles and Micah.
3. Which person is found in the book of Job, along with Eliphaz?

Answer: Bildad

Eliphaz and Bildad were both friends of Job and Scripture tells of them visiting Job after he endured a series of calamities. The two men were accompanied by Zophar. According to Scripture, Eliphaz was a Temanite, Bildad a Shuhite and Zophar a Naamathite.

For the record, a fourth friend, Elihu, would visit Job later.

The names Eliphaz and Bildad appear in only the book of Job. There is a second Eliphaz mentioned in Scripture, with his name appearing in Genesis and 1 Chronicles.
4. Which person is found in the book of of Daniel, along with Meshach?

Answer: Shadrach

Shadrach is the correct answer. Using the NKJV, both Shadrach and Meshach, along with their compatriot Abed-Nego are found in only the book of Daniel. The three Jewish men were thrown into a fiery furnace because they refused to bow to an image of Nebuchadnezzar. According to Daniel 4:19-25, the three men were miraculously unharmed by the flames of the furnace.

Daniel 1:7 states Shadrach was originally known as Hananiah while Meshach was originally known as Mishael and Abed-Nego as Azariah. The verse also states the three men were given new names by the chief of the eunuchs of Nebuchadnezzar.
5. Which person is found in the book of Ruth, along with Orpah?

Answer: Naomi

Naomi was the wife of Elimelech and the mother-in-law of Orpah and Ruth. Scripture states Ruth was married to Mahlon and Orpah was married to Chilion.

According to the book of Ruth, Elimelech, Mahlon and Chilion died and the three women were left as widows. Orpah opted to return to Moab, her homeland, while Ruth agreed to remain by Naomi's side.

Using the NKJV, the names Naomi and Orpah can be found in only the book of Ruth.
6. Which person is found in the book of Esther, along with Mordecai?

Answer: Vashti

Vashti is the correct answer. Her name can be found in only the book of Esther. She was the queen who was deposed by Ahasuerus, king of Persia, because she refused to obey his command to appear before a banquet to show her beauty.

Mordecai was the cousin of queen Esther, and he played a pivotal role in preventing Haman from carrying out a dastardly scheme to kill all the Jews in the massive Persian empire ruled by Ahasuerus.
7. Which person is found in the book of 2 Samuel, along with Nathan?

Answer: Eliam

Nathan's name is found in multiple books in the Old Testament as he was a prophet in the days of David and Solomon. However, Eliam, the father of Bathsheba, can be found in only 2 Samuel. In fact, the name of the father of Bathsheba can be found in only 2 Samuel 11:3 and it is in passing reference.

There is mention of another man who was named Eliam in 2 Samuel 23:34, part of a passage about the Mighty Men who served under David.
8. Which person is found in the Gospel of Luke, along with Caiaphas?

Answer: Anna

Anna is the correct answer. Her name appears in only the Gospel of Luke and no where else in the Bible. Luke 2:37, states she was widow of "great age" and made a point of serving God with "fastings and prayers night and day." Scripture tells of Jesus being presented as an infant at the temple by his parents, with Anna giving thanks to the Lord.

According to Luke 3:2, the word of God came to John the Baptist during the time Caiaphas was the high priest. Matthew 26:57 states after Jesus was arrested in the the Garden of Gethsemane, He was led away to appear before Caiaphas, as well as the scribes and the elders. A similar account is found in John 18:24. Caiaphas' name also appears in Acts.
9. Which person is found in the Gospel of Mark, along with Bartimaeus?

Answer: John the Baptist

John the Baptist is the correct answer. He was the forerunner of Jesus, and accounts of John the Baptist can be found in all four Gospels. However, Bartimaeus is mentioned in only Mark.

According to Mark 10:46-52, Bartimaeus was a blind beggar who miraculously had his sight restored by Jesus as He visited Jericho. Little is known about the personal life of Bartimaeus, apart from the fact he was the son of Timaeus, as per Verse 46.
10. Which person is found in the book of Acts, along with Peter?

Answer: Cornelius

Cornelius is the correct answer. Peter was one of the original Twelve Disciples and his name can be found throughout the four Gospels as well as Acts and Galatians. On top of this, he is credited with writing the two epistles, 1 and 2 Peter.

The name Cornelius, however, can be found in only Acts. He was a Roman centurion who became one of the first Gentile believers in a resurrected Jesus Christ. According to Scripture, Cornelius as well as members of his household were baptized by Peter. (See Acts 10 for details.)
