Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What word finishes this quote from Proverbs 1:7 (KJV), "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of ____________: but fools despise wisdom and instruction"?

Answer: knowledge

Fear does not mean to be scared of, in this sense. It means to have respect for. It comes from the Latin word "reverentia" which means both fear and respect.
2. What word completes this verse from Proverbs 3:5 (KJV), "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own ________________________"?

Answer: understanding

This verse tells us that God knows better than we do. Therefore, it's better to trust Him than to trust ourselves.
3. Can you complete this line from Proverbs 6:4 (KJV), "Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor ____________ to thine eyelids"?

Answer: slumber

This verse does not mean we are never to go to sleep. It means that we should remain vigilant at all times.
4. What word finishes this verse from Proverbs 8:11 (KJV), "For wisdom is better than ________________; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it"?

Answer: rubies

Rubies and other gems are just material things that eventually will be gone. However wisdom lasts forever.
5. What word completes Proverbs 9:6 (KJV), "Forsake the ____________, and live; and go in the way of understanding"?

Answer: foolish

This verse is a warning that if you hang around foolish people, you, yourself, will start to do foolish things. In most cases, when someone is doing right and someone is doing wrong, the person doing wrong tends to have more influence on people doing right. For example, if you don't drink but all your friends do, more than likely you will eventually drink as well.
6. What word finishes Proverbs 11:22 (KJV), "As a jewel of gold in a ____________ snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion"?

Answer: swine's

A swine with a piece of gold in its snout would look rather funny and unusual. Likewise, a woman with no discretion would also be laughed at.
7. What word completes Proverbs 12:15 (KJV), "The way of a fool is right in his own ____________: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise"?

Answer: eyes

We see this all the time, people who are foolish don't realize they are being foolish, but think what they are doing is okay. Wise people, however will seek out wisdom of those wiser than themselves.
8. What word completes Proverbs 14:34 (KJV), "Righteousness exalteth a____________: but sin is a reproach to any people"?

Answer: nation

This verse says that a nation who is righteous, which means, morally right, will be exalted. That is God will show favor and blessings to those nations. However, nations that have turned from God will eventually see God's wrath.
9. Can you complete this verse from Proverbs 15:29 (KJV), "The ___________ is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous"?

Answer: Lord

Many Christians belief that the first prayer that God hears from someone is the prayer of salvation. Before that we are evil or wicked in his eyes. However, when we pray the prayer of salvation Jesus covers our sin with His blood, making us righteous.
10. What word starts this verse, Proverbs 16:18, "____________ goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall"?

Answer: Pride

Pride is what allows us to commit all the other sins. When we think we are too good to get caught, or too good for a law or rule, we end up breaking it. Although at first it may seem like fun, eventually we will get caught and have to pay the price.
