Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the first word of II Corinthians (KJV)?

Answer: Paul

It says in II Corinthians 1:1, "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia."

Paul was formerly named Saul.
2. According to Paul, are believers sufficient enough on their own?

Answer: No

It says in II Corinthians 3:5, "Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God."

This verse is saying that people alone will never be perfect; people will always miss the mark.
3. According to verse 4:9 (KJV), Christians are "persecuted but not _______" what?

Answer: forsaken

It says in II Corinthians 4:9, "Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed."

Forsaken is another ways of saying forgotten or abandoned. That is, God will not forget his people.
4. Chapter 6 tells believers not to be unequally ________ with unbelievers. What goes in the blank (King James Version)?

Answer: yoked

It says in II Corinthians 6:14, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"

One reason the Bible might say that is, if a person who believes is married to a person who does not believe, the person who does not believe may have a great influence on the faith of the person who does believe.
5. What or who brought comfort in verse 7:6?

Answer: The coming of Titus

It says in II Corinthians 7:6, "Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus."

Titus was a missionary and a friend of Paul's.
6. According to II Corinthians 9:7, what does God love?

Answer: a cheerful giver

It says in II Corinthians 9:7, "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

When a person gives, this says, they should do so because they want to and will be happy about it, not because they are being forced.
7. Who does Paul say that people should "glory in"?

Answer: the Lord

It says in II Corinthians 10:17, "But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord."

Paul believed that all he accomplished was because of the Lord, not because of himself, so he gave the Lord all the glory.
8. In II Corinthians, how many times does Paul say he was shipwrecked?

Answer: 3

It says in II Corinthians 11:25, "Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep."

Paul is not complaining in this verse, but letting the people know that he has faced a lot of challenges and yet his faith did not waver.
9. What does Jesus say is sufficient, according to verse 12:9?

Answer: "My grace"

It says in II Corinthians 12:9, "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Grace is often defined as God giving people what they don't deserve. Likewise, mercy is often defined as God not giving people what they do deserve.
10. What does Paul tell the Corinthians to live in, in 13:11?

Answer: peace

It says in II Corinthians 13:11, "Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you."
