Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who asked Jesus this question: "Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?"

Answer: Disciples of John the Baptist

Two disciples of John the Baptist asked Jesus the question, as per Matthew 11:2 and Luke 7:19. No names are given in Scripture for the disciples.

John sent the disciples while he was in prison and was hearing reports about the works of Christ.

When John's disciples asked Jesus if He was the Coming One, He responded: "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me."
2. Who asked Jesus this question: "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?"

Answer: The original Twelve Disciples

The question, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" was asked of Jesus by His Twelve Disciples. The question is contained in a passage telling of Jesus sleeping in the stern of a boat during a severe storm on the Sea of Galilee. The storm was so severe, the disciples were fearful of losing their lives.

After the disciples had awakened Jesus, Scripture tells of Him rebuking the wind and telling the sea to be still and suddenly "the wind ceased and there was a great calm."

See Mark 4:35-41 for details.
3. Who asked Jesus these questions: "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are -- the Holy One of God!"

Answer: An unclean demon

Luke 4:31-37 tells of Jesus driving an unclean demon out of an unnamed man while He was teaching in Capernaum, a community in Galilee. While Jesus was teaching in the synagogue there was a man who had "a spirit of an unclean demon" and he cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are -- the Holy One of God!"

The passage tells of Jesus rebuking him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!" The demon obeyed Christ's command and departed from the man.

Verse 36 goes on to state the onlookers were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, "What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."
4. Who asked Jesus this question: "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?"

Answer: The original Twelve Disciples

It was the original Twelve Disciples who asked Jesus if they should buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to the people so they would have something to eat. The question was asked in a passage in which Jesus fed five thousand men with five loaves of bread and two fish. (It is believed as many as fifteen thousand people were fed by Jesus as the total does not include women and children. It was a common practice not to include women and children in census figures during Biblical times.)

Scripture states the multitude ate and after everyone was filled, the disciples collected "twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish."

For complete details, see Mark 6:30-44.
5. Who asked Jesus this question: "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?"

Answer: Judas (not Iscariot)

Judas, also known as the son of James, is the correct answer. John 14:22 tells of "Judas (not Iscariot)" asking Jesus the question, "how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?"

Judas asked the question after Jesus told His disciples in a little while they would see Him no more. Jesus also said, "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."

In response to Judas' question, Jesus is quoted as saying: "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me."

For more details, see John 14:19-24.

Judas is called son of James, in Luke 6:16 and Thaddaeus in Mark 3:14. A number of the disciples had two names. For example, Peter was called Simon, Bartholomew was called Nathanael and Thomas was called Didymus.
6. Who asked Jesus this question: "Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?"

Answer: The original Twelve Disciples

The original Twelve Disciples of Jesus asked Him if He was going back to Judea as the Pharisees had almost had Him stoned there. The question is asked in John John 11:8.

John 11 tells the heart touching story of Jesus travelling from Galilee to Bethany, a small village outside of Jerusalem, where He raised Lazarus from the dead. According to the passage, Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha, had been dead four days before he was miraculously revived by Jesus.
7. Who asked Jesus these questions: "Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?"

Answer: Pilate

Pilate, the Roman prefect for Judea, asked the questions of Jesus, as per John 19:8-11.

In response, Jesus is quoted in the NKJV as saying: "You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin."

Scripture goes on to tell of Pilate seeking to release Christ, but an unruly mob was vehemently opposed to such a thing. So Pilate gave into the wishes of the mob and was taken away to be humiliated, tortured and crucified only to rise form the dead three days later.

For details about Jesus appearing before Pilate, see John 19:5-16.
8. Who asked Jesus this question: "Are You then the Son of God?"

Answer: Members of the Sanhedrin

The members of the Sanhedrin are quoted asking Jesus if He was the Son of God, as per Luke 22:70. They asked Him the question after Jesus was put on trial that was nothing short of a kangaroo court.

In response to their question if He was the Son of God, Jesus is quoted as saying, "You rightly say that I am."

In Verse 71, the Sanhedrin members declared: "What further testimony do we need? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth."

Luke 23 goes on to tell of Jesus being turned over to Pilate and then Herod.

For details about Jesus appearing before the Sanhedrin, see Luke 22:66-71.
9. Who asked Jesus this question: "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

Answer: The rich young ruler

The question, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" was asked by a rich young ruler, as per Luke 18:18.

When Jesus said it was essential to obey the commandments, the unnamed man proudly replied he had kept the commandments from his youth.

Verse 22 tells what happened next: "So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, 'You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me'."

The man then walked away sorrowful, because he was "very rich".

Scripture goes on to tell of Jesus making the famous declaration: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
10. Who asked Jesus this question: "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?"

Answer: Members of the Sanhedrin

The members of the Sanhedrin is the correct answer, as per Matthew 26:68. The question is part of a passage telling of Jesus appearing before the Sanhedrin after His arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane.

In Verse 63, the high priest issues a charge to Jesus: "I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!"

The following verse tells of the response by Christ: "It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."

When Jesus made the statement, the Sanhedrin members were livid with Scripture stating they tore their clothes, shouting, "He is deserving of death."

Scripture goes on to tell of them spitting in His face and beating him, while others stuck Him with the palms of their hands. And while striking Him, they shouted, "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?"
