Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Take off quickly in Space City

Answer: Blastros

Let's blast off this quiz with the Blastros team! It is a portmanteau of "blast" and "Astros". The special nickname can be given to the Houston Astros team when hitting the balls out of ballpark a lot (or in other words blasting home runs a lot), such as in the 2017 season when they won their first World Series title in franchise history.
2. Tally in Charm City

Answer: Scorioles

The Scorioles is the portmanteau of "score" and "Orioles". The special nickname can be given to the Baltimore Orioles team when scoring a lot of runs at times, such as in the 1996 season when the team scored the franchise record 949 runs in a season.
3. Victory in the Rock-n-Roll City

Answer: Windians

The Windians is the portmanteau of "win" and "Indians", referring to the Cleveland Indians team when winning a lot at times. The nickname became famous through social media in 2017 when the Indians won the AL record 22 games in a row, in which the number of W's before 'indians' corresponded to how many wins in a row the Indians had during the streak.
4. It's burning in Steel City

Answer: Firates

The Firates is the portmanteau of "fire" and "Pirates". Firates can be given to the Pittsburgh Pirates team when being on fire. The special nickname was more readily used during the years when they won the championship, such as in 1960 and 1971. In 2013, the nickname usage was essentially revived after 20 straight losing seasons in which the team went on to win more than 90 games and made the playoffs for three straight years.
5. Fright in Emerald City

Answer: Scariners

The Scariners is the portmanteau of "scare" and "Mariners", referring to the Seattle Mariners team having scary lineup in some years, especially in the late 90s and early 2000s. The 1997 Mariners' lineup featuring Ken Griffey Jr. and Edgar Martinez that hit the MLB record 264 home runs by one team in a season, scaring the other opposing teams on the grandest scale.

The Mariners scared the other teams in another way in 2001 when they won the MLB-tying record 116 games.
6. Neutral color in St. Pete

Answer: Grays

The nickname Grays is from restructuring of the team name simply by adding 'G' in front of it. As with gray being the symbolic color of depression, the special nickname the Grays is what some Rays fans call the team when playing poorly (especially during the time when they were called the Devil Rays) or not meeting high expectations (such as in 2009), depressing the fanbase.
7. Bad in the City by the Bay

Answer: Pathetics

The Pathletics is the blended form of "pathetic" and "Athletics". The Pathetics refers to the Oakland Athletics team when playing pathetically, such as during the 1979 season when they had the worst record in baseball, just a few years following their Swinging A's dynasty including the threepeat.
8. Failure in the Windy City

Answer: Flubs

Some of the Cubs fans refer to their team the Flubs when they're not meeting high expectations, such as during the first half of 2017 campaign after winning the World Series in 2016, while others may call the Cubs team when eliminated out of playoffs while expected to advance, such as in 2008 when Cubs were the best team in baseball and expected to go far into the playoffs, but were swept in the first round by the lowest seeded team.
9. Poorly made in Chavez Ravine

Answer: Shodgers

The Shodgers is the portmanteau of "shoddy" and "Dodgers". Shoddy means a thing, group or organization that is of poor quality due to poor making. The Shodgers is what may call the LA Dodgers team when playing badly due to having lack of good players due to bad decisions by owners regarding transactions and player development.

The special nickname is rarely used by fans due to unfamiliarity of the word shoddy thus the Dodgers had always been doing good as an organization.
10. Unfamiliar people in the Lone Star State

Answer: Strangers

The Strangers was sometimes given to the Texas Rangers team due to their lack of success during the first half-century of team's existence and a lack of notable players during their first 35 seasons without making the playoffs (a notable exception being Nolan Ryan).

The nickname refers to the team being a stranger to other teams Strangers nickname was first used in 1981 during the strike-split season and banned in 2010 when the Rangers made their first ever trip to the Fall Classic.
