Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the original host of "Beat The Geeks"?

Answer: J. Keith van Straaten

J. Keith was replaced by Blaine Capatch to start the second season, which is also when the show changed the format considerably.
2. Seasons 1 and 2 varied considerably due to lots of tweaking to the rules and format of the show. Either way, the final round involved the contestant and the Geek trying to reach...

Answer: 7 points

In the final Geek-to-Geek showdown, the contestant faces off against the Geek. The contestant must choose between a 1, 2, or 3 point question, and the Geek can't choose a question with a lower point value than what the contestant picked. The first to 7 points wins. The contestant has the advantage of going first.
3. Who was the show's one and only Movie Geek?

Answer: Marc Edward Heuck

Marc Edward Heuck was the Movie Geek and Paul Goebel was the TV Geek. Season one was split between Michael Jolly and Andy Zax as the Music Geek, while season two was split between Andy Zax and Michael Farmer.
4. During the second season, each of the Geeks wore a different colour robe, which matched the strap of their Geek medal. Which of these is an incorrect combination?

Answer: TV Geek - Purple

The TV Geek's robe is not purple, but is a yellowish-green that is very close to the Guest Geek's.
5. Was there such a Geek as the "Nudity In Movies Geek"?

Answer: Yes

Mr. Skin played the Nudity Geek. Mr. Skin is a radio personality on "The Don & Mike Show" on Thursdays. Check your radio stations for airtimes!
6. Who was the show's popular co-host?

Answer: Tiffany

Tiffany Bolton was the popular co-host, whose job involved introducing the Geeks, transferring Geek medals, and holding up the portable LCD screen.
7. If both the contestant and the geek get all of their questions correct in a challenge, then a good ol' fashioned ___ second Geek-off takes place.

Answer: 15

The second round worked like this: Two contestants get one chance to go 1-on-1 with a Geek for his or her medal. If the round starts off in a tie, an earlier coin toss determines who goes first. If there is no tie, the contestant with the most points goes first. Each medal is worth 20 points.

The Guest Geek's medal is worth an additional 20 points. If a Geek answers wrong, the contestant gets the medal and the points. If the contestant answers wrong, the Geek must answer the question correctly. If the Geek also answers wrong, the contestant and Geek immediately go to a 15 second Geek-off. Also, if after two questions each there is no wrong answer, they move to a 15 second Geek-off where they must give as many valid answers as possible in 15 seconds.

The Geek must give more corrects answers than the contestant. If the Geek answers less or ties, the Geek must forfeit his or her medal. The third round is the exact same except the contestant that is behind begins, and Geek medals are worth 40 points instead of 20. (Guest Geek's medal is still worth a bonus 20 points.)
8. Which of these is NOT a Guest Geek that appeared on the show?

Answer: Seinfeld Geek

Guest Geeks include the Beatles Geek, Star Trek Geek, Hip Hop Geek, Friends Geek, Playboy Geek, Nudity In Movies Geek, James Bond Geek, South Park Geek, Star Wars Geek, Simpsons Geek, Comic Book Geek, Saturday Morning Geek, Horror Geek, Toy Geek, Michael Jackson Geek, Sopranos Geek, as well as the short-lived Wrestling Geek (one episode) and KISS Geek (two episodes).

Otherwise, each Geek was on for five episodes, Monday to Friday.
9. After the second round of challenges, it all comes down to what?

Answer: The Geek-Qualizer

At the end of the third round, there is a Geek-Qualizer. The host lists off things and the contestant must identify if it's best known for movies, music, or TV. Each correct answer is worth 10 points and there are a total of 160 possible points, which can easily vault someone into a comfortable lead. Any incorrect answer or a freeze ends the Geek-Quailizer for that contestant.
10. The show's first airing was November 7th, 2001. Who was the Guest Geek for this episode?

Answer: Playboy Geek

John Steverding, a.k.a. the Playboy Geek, was the show's first Guest Geek. He was on the show a whopping 11 times in total. Well, that's it! Thanks for playing! Hope you enjoyed it!
