As a matter of fact "Days" was created especially for Macdonald Carey. This was during the heyday of soaps when they were very well done, dramatic, creative, original, and suspenseful. There were many soaps on the air, so the idea was to create something very different by putting a well known and loved movie actor in the pivotal role. Macdonald had been in movies for years and starred with many A-listers including Marilyn Monroe and countless others.

He starred from 1965 until his death in 1994.
2. How many children did Tom and Alice have?

Dr. Tom Horton, Jr. was always played by John Lupton. He starred from 1967 to 1972 and 1975 to 1979. Dr. Bill Horton was played by Paul Carr from 1965 to 1966 and Edward Mallory from 1966 to 1980. Edward has guest starred as Bill many times since. Bill was played by Christopher Stone later on in the late 1980's and early 1990's before Mallory returned. John Clarke played Mickey from the original episode in 1965 to 2004. Richard Voigts then took over for a few months before John Ingle assumed the reign from 2004 to 2006.

The character has been mentioned and referred to, but was never shown, as there was no one to portray him. They may have a great great great grandchild by now as Scottie has been of age for quite a long time and off the canvas for quite a long time as well.

Julie and Doug were in love before Doug and Addie married, but Addie felt he was not good enough for her daughter Julie so she tried to preoccupy him and fell in love instead.

She married him knowing she had stolen him away from her own daughter.
