Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What movie is not referenced?

Answer: Alive

When the pod lands on a dying leviathan, John tells the others they need spare parts to leave, saying, "Burnt, battered, busted. Ding dong, the pod is dead," referencing "The Wizard of Oz." Later, John, worried about being infected by whatever is killing the leviathan, says, "What if we've been exposed to some radiation, or some virus that's gonna mutate us into the Night of the Living Dead?" And the last one is a little trickier as it is not directly referenced, but the music harkens to "Aliens," as well as when the dying Pilot asks John to, "Please... Kill me." A similar scene happens in the "Aliens" film when the marines find a colonist who asks for them to kill her.
2. Why does Moya starburst?

Answer: Distress signal from Talyn

Aeryn and the others wonder why Moya suddenly starburst, leaving John and the others behind on the other leviathan. They soon find that Talyn had sent a distress signal and has been badly hurt, as well as his captain, Crais.
3. What song does John reference?

Answer: Smoke on the Water

John tells Chiana that they can't leave, because Kaarvok "controls the whole ship, Chiana. He's got the maintenance bay. He's got the doors. He's got the windows. He's got the smoke on the water!" "Smoke on the Water" is a song by Deep Purple.
4. The leviathan was transporting the criminally insane originally. How many prisoners were on board?

Answer: 1

The Pilot, who is being used as food for the inhabitants on the ship (thanks to the Pilot's regenerative abilities, he's always good eatin') tells John that there was only one prisoner, Kaarvok, on the ship. The others on the ship were all Peacekeepers once.
5. What species ambushed the Peacekeeper convoy?

Answer: Scarrans

The Pilot tells John they were ambushed by Scarrans, and they couldn't starburst and now just drift. Nebari are Chiana's race who have also been known to attack Peacekeepers (see "Durka Returns" in season one), and Sheyangs are scavengers who tend to attack helpless ships (see "PK Tech Girl in season one). Scorvians are mentioned in season one's "Back and Back and Back to the Future."
6. What does John not call Kaarvok?

Answer: Slurpee

After telling Chiana that someone controls the ship and they can't leave, John tells her, "The guy. Whatever, whoever, the one that killed D'Argo, Dr. Spike!" Later, when John is taunting Kaarvok, he yells, ""Hey, Kaarvok, it's just you and me now. What do you say we meet for some coffee or something, I'm sure we got lots of stuff we could talk about. We'll cook you up something special, K-man, it's gonna take a little while, we're gonna hit you with some starburst supreme!" John is about to put the leviathan in starburst with a Peacekeeper control collar on, which will destroy the ship. And when Kaarvok tries to kill John by stabbing him with the needle from his arm, John grabs his arm and says, "I don't think so, brain-sucker. I can arrange my own death."
7. What game does John reference?

Answer: Hungry Hungry Hippos

John, trying to figure out who all the cannibals on the ship are since there was only one prisoner on board, asks, "What about all this other vermin we're seein'? The hungry-hungry-hippies?" Hungry Hungry Hippos was a popular game where hippos eat marbles. It turns out the cannibals weren't prisoners, but Peacekeepers.
8. What does Kaarvok call the Peacekeepers on the ship?

Answer: Xarai

Kaarvok says, "The Xarai, I call them. Private joke. I once had a tame vangern called Xarai. As you can see, once you've been twinned thirty or fourty times, you're not much good for conversation. Not that you're especially witty right now." Hangi appear in the third season's "Scratch 'N Sniff," a Skreeth appears in season four's "Kansas" and "Terra Ferma." A Keedva was the animal that chased after people in the mines on the dead Budong in "Home on the Remains."
9. What does Kaarvok want to do with D'Argo?

Answer: Breed him

Kaarvok brings out Belima, one of the Xarai, who has been "twinned," or cloned by Kaarvok, a little too much as she is on all fours and barking (literally) mad. Kaarvok promises D'Argo that he will spare him the pain of twinning for a half cycle if he breeds with Belima and the other Xarai.
10. What fast food restaurant chain does John reference?

Answer: Kentucky Fried Chicken

John, after leaving Kaarvok stuck, yells to the Xarai, "Hey kids! It's dinnertime! And it's finger lickin' good!" Finger licking good is the slogan for Kentucky Fried Chicken. Kaarvok fires at John as he runs off, but John makes it back to the transport pod... just in time to see that another John Crichton has already arrived at the transport pod as well. Looks like we're going to have two John Crichton's for awhile...
