Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. John references what western TV show?

Answer: Gunsmoke

Apparently, while getting info on D'Argo's son, Chiana gets the others into a shoot out. John, flying to Moya, says, "Pilot, I'm brining Miss Kitty in from the OK Coral. Is there any word on Aeryn or Doc Rygel yet?" On the TV show "Gunsmoke," Miss Kitty was a madam on the show, which fits Chiana, and there was also a Doc Adams on the show as well, which could be the pun for Rygel.

However, it could also just be a reference to Wyatt Earp and the OK Coral, who was friends with Doc Holiday.
2. John debuts his nickname for his gun in this episode. What is it?

Answer: Winona

John debuts his name Winona for his gun, which is apparently malfunctioning as its blasts are just a bit lame and sputter out. When Chiana tells him, "You're just upset because Winona jammed!" John shoots back, "Hey, Winona, has been very reliable. It's not her fault that she jammed." Actor Ben Browder has said he named the gun after Winona Rider, though why he did I have no idea. Gladys is Marv's gun from "Sin City" and Big Baby is Hellboy's gun in "Hellboy II."
3. Aeryn, after staying behind to clean up after Chiana's mess, greets Chiana how?

Answer: Apologizes to her

Aeryn and Rygel are super nice to Chiana, and when Chiana notices Aeryn's pistol is gone, she knows they're all in trouble. The Nebari have "cleansed" Aeryn and Rygel by short term drug inducement rather than the traditional 100 cycles long process. The short term method involves pulling one's eyeball very very far from the socket and attaching a mechanical device to the optic nerve.
4. What is the female Nebari's name?

Answer: Varla

Varla is the determined Nebari set on finding Chiana's brother. Niem was Scorpius's silent assistant when John was in the Aurora Chair back in season one. Verell was an Ilanic from "Back and Back and Back to the Future" and Vreena was first seen in season four's "Prayer" as a slave.
5. Who does John compare the Nebari woman to?

Answer: Deborah Harry

John tells Chiana after they've been captured by Varla and Meelak, "When you first came on board, Elvis had you in cuffs dragging you back to Nebari Prime. Now we got Debra Harry doing the same thing." Deborah Harry was the lead singer for the band Blondie.
6. What does John compare the cleansing process to?

Answer: Spin cycle

John tells Chiana, "Chiana, everybody else on board has been mind-cleansed. D'Argo's probably in the spin cycle right now." The title of this episode comes from "A Clockwork Orange."
7. How does John not reference himself when talking to Pilot?

Answer: The one and only

John beats his cleansing and reveals himself to Pilot, saying, "I'm here to tell you, the Nebari are a bunch of geeks! And their mind cleansing doesn't work on mama Crichton's baby boy! John Crichton! Astronaut. Master of the Universe!"
8. Who does John say the following line to? "Keep cussing, man."

Answer: Pilot

When John asks Pilot if he can change course, Pilot says he can't starburst because of the "frelling collar" around his neck which pumps poison into him if he doesn't do as the Nebari wish. John says, "Keep cussing, man" as he goes for help.
9. What song does John reference?

Answer: One Way Or Another

John, when caught spying on Varla, tells her in his stoner surfer dude voice, that Moya is having problems with her amnexus fluids. Varla tells him to carry on, and John says, "Cool. It's for the greater good! She's gonna gitcha-gitcha-gitcha-gitcha!" This is a song by Blondie, which is John's way of throwing out another Debra Harry reference. "Another Brick in the Wall" is by Pink Floyd, "Keep Yourself Alive" is by Queen, and "Ain't Nothing But a Good Time" is by Poison.
10. Who else beats the cleansing?

Answer: Rygel

Rygel's metabolism is so fast that it works out the drugs the Nebari give him for the cleansing. John tells Rygel, "You, me and Pilot, we're the only ones who aren't Nebari puppets." Rygel yells, "I'm nobody's puppet," which is just funny coming from an actual puppet.
