Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Episode 11: "The Pancake Batter Anomaly": When Sheldon becomes ill the guys try and hide from him when he becomes the biggest pain imaginable. They attend a movie marathon to get away from him, but what series of films do they go to see?

Answer: Planet Of The Apes

The episode starts with Penny revealing that she went back home to Nebraska and that it was terrible, because all her family were ill. This freaks out Sheldon because he is a germaphobe, and he ends up becoming ill. Leonard, Raj and Howard then hide away so they do not have to look after him, but it all backfires when Penny is forced to look after Sheldon in his apartment, and Leonard has to come home only to be spotted by her.
2. Episode 12: "The Jerusalem Duality": What is the name of the 15 year old physicist who escaped North Korea to be invited to work at the university?

Answer: Dennis Kim

The episode centres around a new child prodigy in the field of physics, who annoys Sheldon because he is more clever than him. This makes Sheldon abandon all hope in physics and turn his attentions to the Nobel Peace Prize, which results in him failing miserably. Raj, Howard and Leonard all work to find Dennis a girlfriend, without Dennis knowing.

The plan works and Dennis seemingly abandons his work in Physics and is seen making out and getting drunk when Leonard, Howard, Sheldon and Raj are walking through the park.
3. Episode 13: "The Bat Jar Conjecture": The guys end up competing in a "Physics Bowl" and decide to form a team to compete, but which one of them is kicked off the team and forms a rival team?

Answer: Sheldon

Sheldon is kicked off the team because he tries to show off and is selfish, trying to answer all the questions himself, even when the others know the answer. He decides to form another team called the 'Army Ants' (with people that, supposedly, know nothing about physics) to go up against Leonard, Raj, Howard and Leslie Winkle, a team known as the 'Perpetual Motion Squad'. Leonard's team are winning, but any team could win with the final question.

A member of Sheldon's team then surprisingly knows the answer to the question, but Sheldon refuses to acknowledge that he knows the right answer and Leonard's team wins.
4. Episode 14: "The Nerdvana Annihilation": What piece of movie memorabilia does Leonard buy online?

Answer: The time machine from the movie "The Time Machine"

Leonard buys the item online, expecting it to be a miniature version, but it turns out to be a full-sized time machine. The guys cannot get it up the stairs and when they try, Penny tries to go down the stairs to go to work, and ends up missing a day of work because she can't. Penny then lashes out and blasts them for their collection of "childish toys".

This hurts Leonard's feelings and he nearly gets rid of all his collectables, but Penny apologises because Sheldon criticises her for her Hello Kitty and Care Bears collection.
5. Episode 15: "The Pork Chop Indeterminacy": What is the name of Sheldon's twin sister, who all the guys try to hit on?

Answer: Missy

Howard and Leonard both see an attractive woman in Sheldon's office and have no idea who she is, until it is revealed that she is Sheldon's twin sister. They all try and get a date with her, until Leonard tells Sheldon to be protective of her and that it is Sheldon's responsibility to find a suitable mate for her, so Leonard has an advantage in making sure that Howard and Raj cannot date her.

At the end they all ask her out with Howard and Leonard failing miserably. Raj asks her out but the experimental drug he has taken to be able to cure his 'pathological shyness' wears off, so he cannot talk to her, which is a shame because Missy is willing to date him.
6. Episode 16: "The Peanut Reaction": Which character celebrates their birthday in this episode?

Answer: Leonard

When Penny learns that Leonard has never had a birthday party, she organizes a secret one for him, with the help of Howard, Raj and Sheldon. Sheldon forgets to buy him a present on the day of the party and so Penny drives him to get something for Leonard. Howard has to get Leonard out of the apartment whilst they set it up, and ends up eating a granola bar (which has peanuts in), that causes Howard to have an allergic reaction, which causes Leonard to drive him to the ER.

In the end, Leonard comes back to the apartment in anticipation of the party, but the party is over by the time he gets home.
7. Episode 17: "The Tangerine Factor": What is the name of the scientific experiment which Sheldon uses to describe Leonard and Penny's impending date?

Answer: Schrodinger's Cat

At the start of the episode Penny is heard shouting at her ex-boyfriend after he posts intimate details about their sex life on his blog. Whilst Penny is upset, Leonard asks her out on a date which she reluctantly accepts. They are both nervous and seek Sheldon's advice on whether to go through with it and he paraphrases the scientific experiment Schrodinger's Cat, which means that the date has two possible outcomes; it can go well or poorly, but it is also not until you go on the date that you will know which outcome it will be.

In the end, they go through with the date.
8. Episode 18: "The Bad Fish Paradigm": What is the secret that Sheldon cannot keep?

Answer: That Penny never graduated from community college

After the date in the last episode goes OK, Penny reveals to Sheldon that she lied to Leonard about graduating from community college, because she didn't think that he would date someone who is not smart. Sheldon finds it difficult to sleep and moves out, staying with Raj and then Howard. Howard gives him Valium because he cannot sleep and returns him to Leonard.

Sheldon reveals the secret and the next day Leonard goes to Penny's apartment asking her to enroll at Pasadena City College, because "she isn't smart" and Penny slams the door in his face in response.
9. Episode 19: "The Codpiece Topology": After Leonard sees Penny with a new boyfriend, who does he start a relationship with in this episode?

Answer: Leslie Winkle

The guys return from the Renaissance fair and Leonard suffers an awkward encounter with Penny and her new boyfriend. This causes Leonard to pursue a relationship with Leslie Winkle. It goes well, until on a date Sheldon interrupts and he and Leslie argue about loop quantum gravity and string theory. Leslie believes in the theory of loop quantum gravity, whereas Sheldon believes in string theory. Leonard sides with Sheldon and Leslie dumps him.
10. Episode 20: "The Barbarian Sublimation": Which online computer game does Penny become addicted to during the course of this episode?

Answer: Age of Conan

Sheldon becomes distracted from playing the computer game "Age of Conan" when Penny locks herself out of her apartment. Sheldon invites her in to his apartment and Penny soon starts playing and becomes addicted to the game. Sheldon finds out that she needs to have sex to relieve stress and return to her normal life, which results in failure.

In the end, Penny accepts a virtual date with Howard and she is disgusted, and stops playing immediately.
