Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What gift did Bart buy Milhouse for his birthday?

Answer: Walkie talkies

Lisa is a bit surprised with Bart before the school bus picks them up because her brother has actually been a bit sentimental by picking a card for his best friend's birthday. When they get on the bus and Bart hands over a gift, a pair of Krusty the Clown walkie talkies they can keep on and talk through when they're not spending time, however, he's surprised that Milhouse has already had a party and Bart wasn't invited because his mother didn't want him to come along. Bart's so disappointed that he ends up staying on the bus without Otto noticing.
2. Homer ends up accidentally covering some of his safety equipment with which of these?

Answer: Purple jelly

At the Nuclear Plant, Smithers and Mr. Burns discuss their weekend while their workers engage in their weekly chit-chat. Homer, taking a box of filled doughnuts to his work station, accidentally ends up covering perhaps his most important piece of equipment with purple jelly and not realizing that the core temperature has reached a dangerous heat. With warning sirens and flashing lights waking him up, Homer realizes that it is, in fact, his problem to deal with. Sector 7-G is promptly sealed by automatic doors.
3. On the news, Mr. Burns tries to rework the idea of the meltdown, instead referring to the catastrophe as which of these?

Answer: An unexpected fission surplus

Bart and Otto have a discussion about best friends on the ride back to school (before Otto heads down to Mexico in the bus) and Bart fears that he may never get over Milhouse's betrayal. Meanwhile, Springfield just receives the first word that the nuclear plant is expected to go into a catastrophic meltdown. Mr. Burns appears on the news via phone to assure everyone that things are going smoothly at the plant, but little to their knowledge, everyone inside is looting and going crazy. Even Mr. Burns is taking necessary precautions, donning a radiation-proof suit. Marge fears the worst for Homer, not knowing that he's at the center of it all.
4. To determine a button to push to stop the meltdown, Homer opts for which of these illogical means?

Answer: Eeny-Meeny-Miney-Moe

Homer, searching for something to point him in the right direction to stop the meltdown, looks for a manual in his last few minutes, eventually finding one and discovering that nuclear reactors are very complex machines and unlikely to be understood in such a small matter of time.
In the final ninety seconds, Smithers says that he loves Mr. Burns. In town, some of the citizens share their last moments together. Marge prays that everyone will be okay.
Finally, Homer decides that he needs to act on things, especially since he didn't listen during his training. With only seven seconds left on the timer, Homer ends up pressing the right button on a choice made by Eeny-Meeny-Miney-Moe and the crisis is averted.
5. Which of these does Homer not receive as a reward for becoming Employee of the Month?

Answer: A monetary raise

At the plant, Mr. Burns feels that Smithers has underestimated Homer Simpson as being a bad employee with no knowledge. In a bold move, he names Simpson the plant's Employee of the Month, a position held by Smithers for years. Homer ends up being brought on stage where he receives a plaque, a discount coupon book, and a thumbs up before his dated photo is added to their wall of fame.

He also gets a phone call from Magic Johnson, which is also a bit outlandish. At school, meanwhile, Bart decides to prank Milhouse in an attempt to get even with his best friend. Milhouse tells him that it wasn't his choice; his mother thinks that Bart is a bad influence and has threatened to cut off his allowance.

There's no other choice.
6. Which of these meals is gifted to Homer for his heroic achievement?

Answer: Ham

Bart ends up getting quite depressed with the situation, feeling like he and Milhouse will never be able to play together again. Even 'The Itchy and Scratchy Show' is unable to cheer him up.
When Homer returns home, Marge discovers all of his recent prizes and reads the plaque to discover that Homer was the sole person responsible for saving the lives of every Springfield resident. At this point however, Homer feels as though he's a complete fraud. The feeling is exacerbated when Lisa looks up to him as a role model and his family looks to him with awe.
During dinner, however, both Homer and Bart are clearly down, even though the ham he received at his 'Employee of the Month' ceremony is made for the occasion.
7. As Employee of the Month, Homer is given a new parking spot. Where?

Answer: Next to Mr. Burns' car

Bart looks through photo albums remembering the good times he had with Milhouse when a crackle is heard on his Krusty the Clown walkie talkie. Milhouse tries to get Bart to like him still; instead, Bart throws out the device.
Back at the plant, Homer is called in to meet the owner of Shelbyville's Nuclear Power Plant who, despite his eccentric look and approach to business, is very concerned that his workers have no real passion for their workplace. What they want him to do is give them a pep talk. Despite his lack of eagerness to go, Homer has no choice.
8. Who ends up speaking to Milhouse's mother in an attempt to get the boys back together?

Answer: Marge

Discovering that Bart is unable to play with Milhouse because Mrs. Van Houten doesn't want the two to be friends (citing Bart's bad influence on her child), Marge decides to intervene a little bit, inviting herself over to Luann's and having a discussion about the boys.

When they see Milhouse outside, trying to use a teeter-totter alone, Luann decides that she'll think about it. Homer, meanwhile, is still followed around by Lisa, even to Moe's Tavern, where he tries to forget about the imminent pep talk he has to give in Shelbyville. Barney ends up recommending to Homer that he picture everyone in their underwear to lose his anxiety.
9. Do Bart and Milhouse end up becoming friends again by the end of the episode?

Answer: Yes

Milhouse ends up speaking over the walkie talkies again, this time to invite Bart back over to play. Thrilled that things have changed (and that he won't need to play with Maggie anymore), he thanks Marge for sticking up for him, then loads his BB gun and heads over.
In Shelbyville, Homer ends up standing at the podium and looks to the audience, believing them to be in their underwear, but the plan backfires when he ends up in his underwear as well. Not only that-- a meltdown starts to occur in this plant as well, leading Homer to, once again, need to save the day.
10. What is the correct definition of 'Pulling a Homer'?

Answer: Succeeding despite idiocy

Homer is brought before a control panel similar to his own and asked to, once again, save a nuclear plant from a catastrophic meltdown. To everyone's shock he once again opts to use his Eeny-Meeny-Miney-Moe selection process to press the right button (which he does).

This time, however, everyone's around to see how much of a bonehead move this really is. He ends up making the news for, actually, not being a hero. In doing so, everyone starts using the phrase "Pulling a Homer" to describe succeeding despite idiocy. Lisa is still happy because, after all this, the term is added to the dictionary.
