Thelma attempts to drive with Fran in the passenger seat but gets so flustered she leaves the car in the middle of the street. Later she gets a phone call about her hat, so she takes Fran's car on her own.

Ellen attempted to teach her but she crashed Ellen's car into a cement block on the mall's parking lot.

Thelma stumbles into the house with only her purse strap left. After stuttering for a while she finally admitted a man stole her purse leaving only the strap. Finally she agreed to the karate class where Naomi, Fran, and Sonja already were at.

After buying a car from Willie Potts that turned into a large lemon, Vint finally said, "Willie the Weasel." She, Vint and Naomi should have noticed when Vint tried to look at the engine and Willie hopped up on the hood closing the hood preventing Vint from looking.

Much to Naomi's chagrin Thelma not only made a spectacle of herself while Naomi was working, she now had a job at Food Circus next to Naomi's check stand.

Aunt Effie called Thelma with a pitiful sounding voice so she hitched a ride with Vint and Naomi to Effie's house. Only to find Effie just wanted some chores done, and not that she was in dire need of her due to illness or getting hurt.

Thelma finally agreed to run against the Mayor, even though Ellen said she wasn't running, and by some miracle she won the race despite Ellen's efforts.

When Thelma's vacuum cleaner died Vint gave her the one he got Naomi, much to Naomi's chagrin. She later vacuumed up Naomi's key which caused the vacuum cleaner to short out and burned a hole in Thelma's rug.
Side note- the judge at small claims court was the father of the bride in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", Michael Constantine.

For her 30th birthday she ordered a 19 cubic foot deep freeze thinking Carl was getting a raise and a promotion. The whole party ended up in a major disaster. There was no birthday cake as Thelma's mother was too ill to make it. So Thelma attempted to make one, only for young Ellen and young Eunice to throw the only flour she had at each other. So she substituted with a fruit cake with Vint's paper heart on a popsicle stick on it.

The birthday candles caught the paper heart on fire causing the fruit cake to be ruined when Thelma put out the fire.

She later learned that Carl turned down the promotion and raise which meant her deep freeze had to be returned.

Answer: Roy Harper

Roy Harper, Carl's brother, shows up thinking it's his brother's birthday only to find out his brother died many, many years ago.
