Tristan finds himself on the 7th Floor to find James March's room; music spins on a record player when he arrives. Tristan, having decided that he wants to kill people, has sought out March's company to learn from the greatest serial killer of the times. March is enthused, feeling that Tristan has found his calling, and relishes in knowing that his traps, hidden throughout the hotel, will be put to good use. Of course, that's the moment that Will Drake arrives on the floor with Claudia, the two discussing the possibilities for this abandoned part of the hotel, and they plan to pull it out, demolishing it completely, to construct his atelier.

While the spirits of Mr. March and Miss Evers fear the possibility, Tristan vows to keep it safe. Will tells Tristan that, despite his rapid healing, he'll still call the police to haul him out of the hotel next time he shows his face.

Dr. Lowe, still checking in on the child with measles, discovers that the boy has developed pneumonia and needs to be rushed to the hospital. She continues to chastise the mother for not vaccinating her son, but she only seems to do so because she needs to save any children she can, both to compensate for her own loss and to cope with her own lacklustre childhood.

After a year of coping with Holden's disappearance, Alex cut her wrists and lay down in the bathtub to die. Fortunately, John was able to save her.

At a therapist's office, Scarlett tells her parents that she's telling the truth but, because of how absurd it seems-- the room, the coffin-- they really don't believe her.

Heading to her room, Claudia loses cell reception and heads to the bathroom to freshen up only to experience some weird goings-on. She sees a face in a reflection and a figure walks past the door out of her periphery. When she lays down in bed, hands grab her from within.

She tries to fight back, but a frightened Gabriel emerges from the mattress and kills her with a blade. Det. Lowe visits another crime scene-- the office of a tabloid magazine-- to find another set of victims of the Ten Commandments Killer. All of the employees, bearing false witness, have had their tongues nailed to their desks. Later that evening, while leaving the Hotel Cortez, he finds Gabriel, bloodied, in the lobby.

Will Drake finds Tristan in one of the rooms of the hotel, again, but this time the tension has eased off a bit. Will is still curious about how Tristan lost his scar, but decides not to pursue the questioning any further. Instead, he's busy figuring out how to get the proper blueprints for the hotel. Tristan takes matters into his own hands and attempts to seduce Will to kill him and drink his blood, but at the last moment, he spies the Countess in the doorway motioning for him to stop. Det. Lowe accompanies Gabriel to the hospital and follows the gurney through the corridors, eventually getting a condemning confession from the junkie-- he claims he only killed Claudia because he thought she was Sally.

He flatlines shortly after this.

Det. Lowe returns to Claudia's room to find Miss Evers already turning down the sheets. Sally, whose room is right across the hall, informs him that Gabriel was just a junkie, and probably shouldn't be believed. When she brings up the Ten Commandments, almost coincidentally, Lowe places her under arrest, handcuffs her, and brings her to the elevator.

Inside, she manages to seduce him; he doesn't realize that the demon responsible for attacking Gabriel is also in the cabin. When the lights flicker out, Sally and the demon are both gone. Donovan returns to the Hotel Cortez to find Iris already waiting for him. Since she's already got plans to get the two of them a new apartment, he gets enraged and tells her that he wanted to die to get away from her.

He says that he plans to leave that night, despite her protests, and she breaks down, claiming that if she isn't his mother then she doesn't know who she is. Donovan claims she should probably kill herself if that's the case.

Donovan heads to the streets of Los Angeles and finds a junkie victim, drinking her blood and leaving her in a homeless tent city. Donovan heads to the street to find a woman having car troubles, but since he's already dazed he's not prepared for a taser to the neck.

The woman stuns him and shoves him into the trunk of her vehicle. Alex shows up at the Hotel Cortez to meet with John and the two of them very quickly start to have issues...especially when Alex reveals the preliminary divorce papers she's brought along. John immediately breaks down due to the loss of control in his life and he tells his wife that he thinks he's going crazy.

The Countess invites Will Drake up to her penthouse and informs him, over wine, that "Will Drake has to die". He believes that he's losing his motivation with fashion, and she says that he needs to fall off the radar-- or crash and burn-- and rise up from the ashes to rebuild his name. When she makes an attempt to seduce him, Tristan walks in.
Angrily, Tristan heads to the bar to speak to her and she explains the truth-- she's in it for the money since she was scammed out of her own. Will Drake will die, but he can't until she marries him and gets every last dollar from his name.

Alex finds John's case files in his hotel room and realizes why he's been on edge. She gives him a couple of sedatives and tells him to rest for a few hours to fix his head. He apologizes for being unable to keep their family together and suggests they have another baby, but this doesn't go over well.

She leaves. When Alex heads to the elevator, she impatiently decides to head to the stairs instead of waiting but walks into Claudia, bloodied, in the hall. Frightened, she turns back around to find Holden standing at the other end of the corridor.

She reaches him and he confirms that he is her son.

In another room of the hotel, Sally prepares a needle for Iris who, deciding that she wants to kill herself, just wants it to be over with. Sally, however, insists that she know why she wants to die, but Iris says she just doesn't want to continue anymore. Sally hesitates since she doesn't want Iris haunting the hallways of the Hotel Cortez with her unfinished business, but Iris assures her, she just wants the dark silence of death.
Donovan wakes up in a sunlit room, chained to a chair with his blood already draining. The woman who kidnapped her reveals who she is...or was-- Ramona Royale, former star of blaxploitative B-movies. Like The Countess, she was nearly scammed by the same man...but in 1977, she met The Countess for the first time and fell in love with her. The Countess infected her shortly after, making her drink her blood in the Hotel Cortez and living with her into the 1990s.
In 1991, Ramona met the love of her eternal life-- Prophet Moses, a rap star. She aimed to be with him forever and, one day, had him drink from her own blood. That was the day The Countess had to step in; she killed Mo's crew, shot him in the head, and left Ramona; there could only be one Queen. Now she plans to get revenge...by killing her children.

Donovan is set free when he tells Ramona that The Countess broke up with him and she has no use for him. Unfortunately, he has nowhere to go, so he returns to the bar of the Hotel Cortez. Liz Taylor, behind the bar, tells Donovan that he is not allowed to have a pity party. In fact, as much as Iris is a horrible woman, he says, no one will love Donovan as much, and since he treats her so horribly, he needs to get his act together, especially since he'll be living for who-knows-how-long.
Iris, as it turns out, isn't dead yet. Sally gave her enough to kill a marching band but it didn't work. Instead, Sally decides to simply place a plastic bag over her head and belt it on.
That's when Donovan arrives at her room. Sally opens the door and he enters the room to find her near death so, in a moment of quick thinking, he cuts his arm and forces her to drink his blood.
