Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these myths was soundly busted, not once, but twice?

Answer: Splitting an arrow

Poodle in the Microwave was deemed to cruel to try on "Mythbusters", and will probably never be tried. The Exploding Jawbreaker myth was confirmed, and the Baghdad Battery myth was deemed plausible.
2. Which of these myths were confirmed?

Answer: Shredded plane

The Shredded Plane myth worked to perfection, shredding the unfortunate plane into something resembling swiss cheese. The Ming Dynasty Astronaut myth was not so lucky, sending the astronaut careening out of the way, far from the miles up they wanted him to go.

The Water Bottle Jet-Pack myth was also busted, due to the fact that it only propelled the person attached to the fifteen water bottles five or so feet. The Border Slingshot myth was also busted severely due to the fact that the person would die on impact after being shot out of the slingshot, and also that it did not generate enough force to shoot them over the border from Mexico to the U.S. of A.
3. The Death Ray myth was a very interesting myth that was tried twice. Which of these statements are true about it?

Answer: It was busted twice

Though this myth was extremely interesting to watch, the end result was less than satisfying on both occasions. They were unable to set things on fire properly, due to the fact that hundreds of mirrors had to be aligned on the exact same spot to ignite it.

After hours of inability to light the boat on fire, they resorted to Molotov cocktails and flaming arrows to set the boat on flame and destroy something. For in "Mythbusters", the golden rule is to always destroy something.
4. In the build off between Jamie and Adam during the Prison Crossbow myth, Adam won.

Answer: True

In this astounding myth, the story is that a prisoner made a crossbow out of things that the state is required to give him (elastic from underwear, forks, newspaper, homemade glue) and succeeded in killing an inmate. This myth was plausible, as Adams homemade crossbow reached a speed of 91 feet per second and struck the ballistics inmate right in the jugular.

This could have killed him, as could a shot straight in the eye, making this myth plausible.
5. The hosts of "Mythbusters" are Jamie Hyneman and Adam ______.

Answer: Savage

Adam Savage is a man with a dream; a dream to blow up as much stuff up as possible. When a myth involving explosives doesn't work, Adam is the first to decide that the structure needs to be blown up anyways. Also, a show is never complete without Adam somehow injuring himself, be it via getting his lip stuck in a vacuum motor or getting 10,000 volts through the heart from an electric fence generator. Though normally concerned with special effects in various films (such as "The Matrix", "Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace", and "Star Wars Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith"), He once starred in a Charmin commercial, filling the role of Mr. Whipple's stock boy.
6. Jamie Hyneman earned a degree in Latin based languages.

Answer: False

No, this statement is not true. However, he did get a degree in Russian languages and literature. His talents don't end here, however, as he is frequently asked by filmmakers to help with special effects, and his skills have been used by both Nike and 7-up.
7. Kari Byron, one of the beloved mythterns, was once chased by Egyptian machine-gun wielding police for painting a mural in Dahab.

Answer: True

Kari Byron is an interesting person, whose life before "Mythbusters" was filled with sculpture and "Dungeons and Dragons." She got her big break when she was hired at M5 due to her skills in sculpting, and was needed in the Vacuum Toilet myth. Simply put, they needed a 3-D scan of her backside. Truly, this is what Hollywood is all about.
8. What was the name of Grant Imahara's robot that he built, a champion of the show "Battlebots"?

Answer: Deadblow

Grant Imahara, an electronics and radio-control specialist, is an interesting fellow indeed. He was in charge of making sure that the Energizer Bunny's arm beats and ears move at a constant rate, and helped control R2-D2. His other accomplishments include a book called "Kickin bot: An Illustrated Guide to Building Combat Robots", and working on various movies including "Jurassic Park" and "The Matrix Reloaded."
9. Which of these films did Tory Belleci never work on?

Answer: "The Brothers Grimm"

Tory Belleci is another mythtern who has much to offer. Some of his accomplishments include making a short film that aired in the Sundance film festival and building models for the "Star Wars" trilogy.
10. What alcoholic liquid are many myths based on?

Answer: Vodka

Vodka has been involved in many myths, used as a way to rid clothes of the smell of smoke, get rid of foot odor, or used in many other odd ways.
