Answer: Yellow fever

One of Dunmore Landing's employees came down with yellow fever. A doctor was walking with Anne in the house, saying it was an outbreak of yellow fever and said it was in Charleston and Sally Brewton's place. She later caught the disease and died before giving birth and the child unfortunately died with her.

Scarlett introduced Mary to Fenton, believing they never met and at this point she knew Mary was pregnant but didn't know it was Fenton's. Fenton of course was none too pleased to see Mary Boyle and ordered her to leave as soon as possible.

Scarlett had served champagne to Fenton in her kitchen and they started kissing hotly. Fenton was grabbing her arm rather tightly, so she said he was hurting her twice.

Fenton grabbed her in the drawing room and she screamed as loud as she could. After she finally broke free she vowed to kill him if he came near her again. As he was violating her she was screaming for help and no one came. That made me mad. Everyone in the house heard her screams and him hurting her but did nothing.

But her screaming at finding his lifeless body they came and had her arrested. Some justice.

Sally came to visit Rhett at Dunmore Landing and was pleased to see him packing for a trip. He then handed her Sir John Morland's letter and Sally couldn't believe it.

After hearing of Scarlett's plight, Sally went with Rhett. First they went to Sir John's house where he filled them in, save one item that Scarlett wished to tell Rhett himself. Rhett and Sally went to the prison to visit Scarlett, only Sally stayed in a waiting area while Rhett saw Scarlett, who informed him of Kat's existence at long last.

Sir John had met Mary Boyle only once when Scarlett passed her off as an aquaitence of hers from Ireland and her (Mary's) baby. Sir John spotted Mary in the crowd near the courthouse and she ran. Mary was caught by Rhett and they were taking a carriage ride to the prison where Scarlett was. Only Mary jumped out of the carriage and threw herself off a bridge and Rhett jumped in after her.

Mary was somewhat out of it and didn't say a word to Rhett when he came to visit her. The doctor there told Mary what a naughty thing she did by attempting suicide and informed her that her baby didn't make it.

After the guilty verdict was pronounced, Scarlett was made to stand up and was given the sentence of hanging until she was dead. But Mary Boyle finally stood up and admitted Scarlett didn't do it. In the judge's chambers with Sir John and Rhett present, Mary admitted that she had killed Fenton for what he did to her and Scarlett and for all the evil that was in him.

They made love after a welcome back party outside Ballyhara. After that, Rhett agreed to give up Charleston if she gave up Ireland. They agreed to travel the world with their daughter Kat. The helicopter shot showed them entering the site of Tara 1.
