"The Amazing Race 33" [3] Trivia Quiz

Answer: Goat

After two legs in Switzerland, the remaining six teams boarded the "Amazing Race" charter plane and took off for destinations unknown. They ended up leaving Lugano and headed due south to the island of Corsica where, upon landing, they would be taking to the island's capital of Corte to start the sixth leg of the race. Departing in three groups from Ponte Novu in Castello-di-Rostino, they would need to make their way by car to Belvédère de Corte to collect their next clue and a cannister of goat's milk.

Answer: Make cheese

At Belvédère de Corte, teams found their canister of fresh goat's milk and their Detour clue waiting for them. The first of these options was 'Say Cheese', which required that teams join in the lost art of cheesemaking by producing three baskets of the popular, local goat's cheese with the milk they'd collected. Once the Brocciu cheese was delivered to the nearby storage cave at the Fromagerie Fermière Chez Jean Paul & Claire, they would be able to receive their next clue. Lulu and Lala, Akbar and Sheri, and Arun and Natalia finished this task.

Answer: Three

If teams didn't want to 'Say Cheese' for their Detour in Leg 6, they could instead opt to go with 'Mule, Please', which forced teams to take their canister of goat's milk and, after attaching a saddle and harness to a provided mule, they had to travel on foot with their pack animal to deliver their canister to the same location as the other task, the Fromagerie Fermière Chez Jean Paul & Claire. If they could make it without spilling their milk, they could get their next clue. Ryan and Dusty, Kim and Penn, and Raquel and Cayla completed this task.

Answer: Kim

When teams got out of their Detour tasks they were told to head to Verghellu Canyon Altipani near the town of Venaco to get their next clue, their Road Block for this sixth leg of the race. For this task, one member of each pair was sent out into the mountains of Corsica wherein they needed to complete a 2.4 kilometre canyoning course with local guides, traversing mountain streams and gorges to locate their clue and return to the start. Penn, Lulu, Raquel, Akbar, Arun, and Ryan completed this challenge.

Completing the sixth leg of the race, teams departed from the Road Block and made their way to the river near Cardiccia Dam where they had to inflate a kayak fit for two and paddle upstream to the next Pit Stop on the edge of the Tavignano River. Kim and Penn, who hadn't won a leg of the race since Scotland (Leg 3) before the COVID break, arrived in first place and won $5,000 USD each. Though Akbar and Sheri arrived at the Road Block in fourth, Akbar fell behind far enough during the Road Block to sink the married couple to last place.

They were subsequently eliminated in sixth.

Answer: Cheese

The five racing teams took off from the Cardiccia Dam on the island of Corsica at the start of Leg 7. Departing in two groups based on their arrival times in the previous leg, they needed to drive themselves (in convertibles) from Cardiccia and head an hour and a half south along the Corsican coastline to Tour de Fautea in Zonza. Once there, the teams had to enjoy a piece of a local delicacy, casgiu merzu, a cheese eaten with live maggots. If they could stomach this unconventional meal they could get their next clue.

Answer: Ryan and Dusty

When teams finished their cheesy task, teams got a Detour clue sending them to the rocky beaches of Pinarello to pick one of their next challenges. The first of these was 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat' for which racers had to collect a two-man kayak with a transparent hull and paddle it out into the Mediterranean.

The boat they chose would have a metal fish design on it, and with that they could search marked buoys, collecting ten identical metal fish to return to shore to trade for their next clue. Ryan and Dusty were the only team to take on this physical Detour option.

Answer: Glass-bottom boat

If teams wanted to take a more leisurely route along Pinarello Beach, they could choose the 'Gently Down the Stream' Detour option and claim seats on a glass-bottom boat tour of Pinarello. In this task, the teams had to take the fifteen-minute ride over the waters keeping their eyes peeled across the clear bay to identify ten coloured metal fish. Returning to shore they then needed to cite the exact order of the fish as seen on the trip or, else, take the ride again. Raquel and Cayla, Kim and Penn, Arun and Natalia, and Lulu and Lala completed this task.

Answer: Bonifacio

Finishing their Detours, teams drove to the Port de Plaisance in Bonifacio to find their knotty Road Block waiting for their eager hands. In this task, one member of each pairing needed to help out local Corsican fishermen by repairing a net, mending all holes using provided materials. If they could fix the entire net provided, they could receive their next clue. Cayla, Penn, Ryan, Natalia, and Lala were selected to mend things up.

Answer: Arun and Natalia

When teams completed the Road Block task in Bonifacio, they were told to make their way on foot up to U Rastello. Once at the top, a man dressed as Napoleon would point them in the direction of their next Pit Stop mat on the cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean.

Here, Phil gave the win to Kim and Penn, who took their second consecutive win (and their third overall for the race). The couple won a trip for two, this time, to Antalya, Turkey courtesy of Travelocity. Arun and Natalia were last to arrive in this leg but they were saved by another non-elimination leg, being forced to leave alone during the latest departure time in Leg 8.
