In the beginning of this episode, Susan is heading to the ATM and George tells her that he may need to get some money as well. When he doesn't give her his bank PIN code, he discusses the idea with Jerry at Monk's. Jerry comments that his code is 'Jor-El', which is the name of Superman's father. George assures Jerry that the only way he'll give up his code is if he's in a life or death situation.

When Jerry's foot falls asleep, he gets up and realizes that Fred is in the shop. Elaine walks in shortly after and as Fred leaves, she realizes that she has met him before at a party that she went to with Jerry. She decides to chase him down the street so she can get Fred to remember, but he ends up remembering very specific details about the party excluding his ten minute chat with Elaine.

After Jerry gets the call from the owner of Leapin' Larry's, Kramer comes in and says that he just bought his new emergency BAN scanner from the same store. When Kramer hears that a fire has just broken out downtown, he decides to call the fire department to give them good directions to the scene. Kramer says that he has always wanted to be a fireman in order to steer the giant ladder.

When Jerry goes over his ideas for the commercials he'll be starring in, Leapin' Larry is pleased. It isn't until the end of their conversation that Leapin' Larry reveals that (ironically) he is missing a leg. Jerry's foot ends up falling asleep during the meeting and he ends up making an idiot of himself in front of Larry, who takes what he thinks is an impression as a rude joke.

Elaine ends up asking Jerry to go with her for dinner with Mr. Peterman so that he can suffer through his stories with her, and Jerry drags George along. When Elaine runs into Fred again on the street, he asks her to dinner and she decides to cancel her plans, leaving George and Jerry with the boring Mr. Peterman for the night.

Jerry is able to evade dinner with Peterman, but he leaves George behind in his plans. While Jerry goes home to watch a baseball game, George is stuck listening to stories about corduroy and berets. On the drive home, George is stuck going to the hospital to visit Peterman's dying mother. Meanwhile, Elaine plans to meet Fred at a restaurant for dinner, but he never shows up.

This is revealed when Mr. Peterman returns home to visit his mother, who the doctor describes as being at death's door. Meanwhile, Jerry discovers that Elaine is only attracted to Fred because he always forgets her. The following morning, Mr. Peterman decides to get coffee for George, who helped him through the night.

While he's gone, George decides to reveal his PIN code to Peterman's mother. Soon after, she starts shouting the word and she passes away.

After the morning of the death, George goes to Jerry's to tell him about the PIN code problem. Here, Kramer easily deduces what the PIN code is and George runs away. Soon after, Elaine and George go to the funeral and Elaine quickly leaves because she has a date. George tries to tag along, but she is able to make an excuse where he wouldn't be involved.

Mr. Peterman doesn't see through George's lie about going to a mens conference and he is stuck at the funeral. Peterman hypothesizes that the PIN code was actually the name of a man who his mother may have had an affair with in Costa Rica. Meanwhile, Kramer decides to go to the fire station to give them a map of shortcuts to use and he tags along while the actual firemen as they embark on a deadly blaze.

In the end, Jerry returns to Leapin' Larry's and gets his job back. Unfortunately, his leg falls asleep again and he accidentally knocks over a gas can which sparks a fire. Kramer, at the fire station, jumps on board the fire truck as they head to the blaze. Elaine goes on a date with Fred and discovers she hates him because he's demented.

The fire from Leapin' Larry's causes the funeral home containing George and Mr. Peterman to be evacuated. As they walk down the street, they find a man trapped in an ATM booth and George is forced to reveal his ATM code, 'bosco', in front of Mr. Peterman.
