Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. April Dancer and Jennifer Hart

Answer: Stefanie Powers

Stefanie Powers played April Dancer on the spy series "The Girl from U.N.C.L.E" (1966-1967). It was a distant takeoff on the successful "Man from U.N.C.L.E." which ran from 1964 to 1968. By the way, the acronym stood for United Network Command for Law and Enforcement.

Powers played Jennifer Hart, amateur detective and half of a wealthy, crime fighting couple. With Robert Wagner as husband Jonathan Hart, "Hart to Hart" aired from 1979 to 1984.
2. Carmela Soprano and Jackie Peyton

Answer: Edie Falco

The talented Edie Falco was Carmela, wife of New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), on the long running cable show "The Sopranos". The show centered around Tony's 'work' and the conflicts created by it. The show was on from 1999 through 2007 with a controversial last episode.

"Nurse Jackie" had Edie portraying Jackie Peyton, a drug-addicted nurse in a New York City hospital, All Saints Hospital. The cable drama ran from 2009 to 2015. Edie won Best Actress Prime Time Emmy Awards for both roles.
3. Sarah Reeves and Melinda Gordon

Answer: Jennifer Love Hewitt

TV producers seem to love actress Jennifer Love Hewitt. She has been featured on television shows from the time of her breakout role as Sarah Reeves on "Party of Five" (1994-2000). The drama was about a family of five siblings whose parents were killed in an auto accident by a drunk driver.

"Ghost Whisperer" had Jennifer playing Melinda Gordon, a newlywed with the ability to "see dead people" and help them cross over to 'the other side'. Remarkably, the show lasted from 2005 to 2010.
4. Alice Hyatt and Janice Wentworth

Answer: Linda Lavin

Versatile actress Linda Lavin portrayed a single mother, waitress and aspiring singer on the sitcom "Alice" which aired from 1976 through 1985. Most of the humor was derived from the wacky employees of Mel's Diner. The show was based on the 1974 film "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore", directed by Martin Scorsese.

Lavin played eager detective Janice Wentworth on the cop comedy "Barney Miller". She was the lone female in a precinct filled with testosterone. While she only appeared in six episodes (1975-1982), they were memorable.
5. Blanche Devereaux and Aunt Fran Crowley

Answer: Rue McClanahan

Did you know that Rue McClanahan worked with Bea Arthur, playing her neighbor, Vivian Harmon, on "Maude"? However, I used her second pairing with Arthur, as the sexy, man-hungry, southern belle Blanche Devereaux on "The Golden Girls", which ran from 1984 to 1992.

On "Mama's Family", Rue played the spinsterish sister of matriarch Thelma Harper (Vicki Lawrence), i.e., Aunt Fran Crowley. Originally a skit on "The Carol Burnett Show", "Mama's Family" successfully spun off from 1983 to 1990.
6. Tootie Ramsey and Regine Hunter

Answer: Kim Fields

Kim Fields seems to have inherited her acting ability from her mother Chip (Laverne) Fields who played the abusive mother of Penny Woods on "Good Times". But I digress. On "The Facts of Life", Kim was "Tootie" Ramsey, one of the four girls attending the Eastland boarding school. The show was on from 1979 to 1988.

Kim took off her roller skates and grew up to play Regine Hunter. Regine was a snooty roommate, along with Queen Latifah as Khadijah James, in a Brooklyn residence on "Living Single". The sitcom aired from 1993 to 1998.
7. Blossom Russo and Amy Farrah Fowler

Answer: Mayim Bialik

Talk about versatility - not only did Mayim Bialik appear in the film "Beaches" in 1988, she also received a doctorate in neuroscience from UCLA (in real life)! As a youngster, she starred as Blossom Russo, a teenager living in an unconventional family on "Blossom", from 1990 to 1995.

She went on to become one of the main characters on the hit show "The Big Bang Theory" (2007-2019). Mayim played Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler, the love interest of the
brilliant physicist Sheldon Cooper and, as art imitates life, a neurobiologist.
8. Florence Johnston and Mary Jenkins

Answer: Marla Gibbs

One of the major sources of humor on the "All in the Family" spin-off "The Jeffersons" was Florence Johnston, the sarcastic, wisecracking maid, played to perfection by Marla Gibbs. Florence actually appeared in the very first episode of the sitcom where she was interviewed and hired. The show aired for a remarkable ten years, from 1975 to 1985.

Beginning in 1985, on "227" Marla played Mary Jenkins. She lived with her husband Lester and daughter Brenda (Regina King) in an apartment building in Washington DC.
9. Mary Stone and Christine Armstrong

Answer: Shelley Fabares

Did you know that, in addition to her acting talents, Shelley Fabares had a hit single, "Johnny Angel", in 1962? On "The Donna Reed Show", she played typical teenager Mary Stone from 1958 to 1966. The show, a product of the time, depicted housewife Donna and her pediatrician husband Alex living their suburban lives.

Shelley grew up to play Christine Armstrong, Hayden Fox's love interest on "Coach" (1989-1997). But, in more modern times, Christine was not just a girlfriend and, later, wife, she was also a television news anchor.
10. Nina Van Horn and Victoria Chase

Answer: Wendie Malick

Wendie Malick has had a long career dating back to the late 1970s, including stints on "Baywatch" and HBO's "Dream On". On "Just Shoot Me!" (1997-2003), she played Nina Van Horn, a snooty former supermodel and movie star whose fame vanished, forcing her to take a job as fashion editor for "Blush" magazine.

On "Hot in Cleveland" (2010-2015), Wendie played Victoria Chase, one of three friends from Los Angeles traveling to Paris. When their plane was forced to make an emergency landing, they decided to remain in down-to-earth Cleveland.
