1. What aspect of the night did Deputy Wetzel discuss?

Answer: full moon

Wetzel was trying to say something for the camera and talked about the higher crime rate during full moons.

2. When back-up arrived, what did Deputy Wetzel say had flipped his squad car?

Answer: gang-bangers

He didn't seem to want to say that it was a monster, so when one of the other officers asked if it was gang-bangers, he said that it was. Apparently that's the easy explanation if you're in downtown Los Angeles.

3. In Mulder's original theory of the case, what did he think the monster was?

Answer: Werewolf

He described the werewolf to Deputy Wetzel, and Sergeant Guthrie was more than a bit astonished, and even asked to see Mulder's credentials again. After getting Mrs. Guerrero's sketch, which resembled Freddy Krueger, Mulder seemed to rethink the case a bit.

Quite the opposite! Though Scully avoided them and thought that she and Mulder shouldn't work on their case in front of them, Mulder saw a great opportunity to attain concrete proof of the paranormal before a national (or international) audience.

Wetzel had gone back to reexamine the house. While there, his fear mounted until the Waspman attacked him. It was hard to see, but there was clearly some serious damage to his arm. He did live, though, but likely because the sun rose before the monster could finish the job.
