Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the opening scene, on the tag on the present, the character's name is shown for the only time in the entire game. What is it?

Answer: Jack

It also signals the first use immortal saying "Would You Kindly...", and is one of the four cutscenes of the game. The package was given to the player as a 'present' from his 'parents'...
2. The first thing you see of the marvelous worlds of BioShock is the bleak middle of the Atlantic Ocean, where for some strange reason, your passenger plane has crashed, leaving none alive but you. On walking in the great doors of the lighthouse to your right, a giant bust greets you, along with a banner. What is written on the banner?

Answer: No Gods or Kings. Only Man.

The bust is of Andrew Ryan. Or Frank Fontaine. Probably Andrew Ryan. The "sweat of his brow" is part of Ryan's introductory speech, given later in the Bathysphere while descending into Rapture.
3. "I am Andrew Ryan, and I am here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No,' says the man in Washington, 'it belongs to who?'

Answer: The poor

'No,' says the man in the Vatican, 'it belongs to God.'
'No,' says the man in Moscow, 'it belongs to everyone.'

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose...

Rapture.

A city where the artist would not fear the censor,
where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality,
where the great will not be constrained by the small.

And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city, as well."

-Andrew Ryan's Introduction
4. What is the name of the man that the spider splicer killed as soon as the character docks in Rapture?

Answer: Johnny

A shortlived character, who pleads for his life before being dispatched by the first splicer that the character sees in Rapture, a spider splicer. This is one of the five types of splicer in the game.
5. What is the first name of Tenenbaum?

Answer: Bridgette

Bridgette Tenenbaum is the adopted mother of all the little sisters. She cares for her 'little girls' like they're her own. She is never actually seen in person in the entire game, save for a glimpse of her you get in the little sisters' hideout.
6. What is the code Dr. Julie Langford scrawls on the window of her laboratory when Ryan kills her?

Answer: 9457

Andrew Ryan kills her by releasing toxic gases in her seemingly airtight lab, all the while talking of some broken deal between the two. The code goes into her safe on the wall, which contains the Lazarus Vector.
7. What was in the present that the player character received at the start of the game?

Answer: A gun and some co-ordinates

These were co-ordinates to the exact positioning of Rapture, and a gun to hijack the plane. All were courtesy of Frank Fontaine. This is followed by flashbacks of the character as a baby, with Dr. Suchong and Dr. Tenenbaum.
8. What is the psychopathic Dr. Steinman obsessed with?

Answer: Surgery

This was shown through Steinman talking to himself over why everything was symmetrical, and why there was two of everything. He can't stop doing surgery, and is trying to make a perfect person, which fails every time.
9. What is the name of the book and author that inspired "BioShock" greatly?

Answer: Ayn Rand/'Atlas Shrugged'

Many different references to Ayn Rand were thrown into the game, such as Andrew Ryan, a Russian-American, and the name Andrew Ryan is a part-anagram of Ayn Rand. This, of course, included the "ew" added on the end of "Andr" to make it work.
10. What does the character notice after he has killed Andrew Ryan, symbolizing a great sacrifice?

Answer: The Vita-Chamber had been deactivated

"A man chooses, A slave obeys!" - Andrew Ryan.
He deliberately turned off the Vita-Chamber, to prove that a man chooses, and he chose to die, and a slave obeys, the assisted suicide was helped by the player's mind control killing Ryan.
