Marianne is slower than the other three characters, deals much less comparative damage and her actions use up more stamina than the others. She can take on a Robin in close quarters, but that's only because Robin himself is seriously weak in close quarters; if he spots her from far, she's done for. Marianne is a very stealth focused character, and is second to none for players who can play with their head on a swivel.

She lacks the tools to succeed if spotted, so being tenacious in remaining in cover is critical.

Answer: Having a melee weapon and a ranged weapon

Marianne has a hidden dagger for a melee tool and a light crossbow for a weapon. These items are effective for pulling stealthy maneuvers, namely landing assassinations.

Answer: Make her nearly invisible

In order to spot a Marianne who has used her ability, the player will pretty much need to specifically be looking out for her and have good general perception skills. It's even worse if Marianne is using her Phantom Stalker perk, as she will be completely invisible to the naked eye.

Answer: Tooke's ability

When activated, Tooke's ability will automatically reveal enemies within a moderate distance. This includes Marianne, and leaves her completely wide open and exposed. An exposed Marianne is in a lot of trouble, and is basically forced to flee the field or die. Paying attention to when a nearby Tooke activates his ability is vital.

Answer: Creates a huge smoke cloud

A helpful tool, this can let Marianne hide amongst the smoke to approach an enemy. It can also let Marianne hide herself, to get away from an enemy who is attempting to flag her down. In tandem with her ability, Marianne can make efficient getaways when needed.

Answer: Increase her crouch movement speed

As the player will want to be sneaking around a lot, it stands to reason that they will want to be crouched a lot. Roving Rogue is thereby useful, letting Marianne move faster most of the time.

Answer: Territorial Thief

Territorial Thief also makes Marianne faster at claiming spawn points throughout the map. This comes at the insignificant cost of being slower at extracting the chest, which Marianne should not be doing anyway.

Answer: Survivalist

Survivalist is a useful option that gives Marianne another way to get out of a bad situation, if needed. Her dodge rolls cover lots of ground, enough to assuredly dodge an attack thrown at her if timed properly. It does have the drawback of consuming more stamina than her normal dodge roll though, so smart players can take advantage of a spam-happy Marianne.

Answer: Marianne can open the vault faster than anyone else

Marianne is plainly horrible at the three incorrect options. She actually has the slowest sprint speed in the game, and is by far the slowest at carrying the chest. Her attacks don't deal enough damage to take the Sheriff down, and he cannot be assassinated; quite frankly, she should never try to pick a fight with him, ever.

However, Marianne's door opening speed is by far the fastest in the game. This is vital when the enemy team is closing in, enabling Marianne to quickly get the vault door open and getting her team to the chest as soon as possible.

Answer: She cannot be assassinated when crouch walking

If Marianne is crouch walking, she cannot be assassinated by anyone, even another Marianne. She is the only character in the game to have this psuedo-immunity.
