Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Some pairs of Spec Ops missions use the same map (level), but put a different spin on it. You might be equipped with different weapons, or fight different enemies. Which of the below pairs of missions do not use the same map?

Answer: 'Big Brother' and 'Homeland Security'

'Big Brother' and 'Homeland Security' are in similar maps, but there is an extra section in the former. They are both based on the 'Wolverines!' level of the campaign. The two missions have very different focuses - 'Big Brother' sees one player escorting the other in a helicopter, while the objective of 'Homeland Security' is to defeat 5 waves of enemies.
2. Exclusive to Spec Ops are the Juggernaut enemies. These heavily armoured machine gun toting troops can change a mission instantly, as the Juggernaut makes a beeline for players usually as soon as he spawns. But which of these missions do not contain Juggernauts?

Answer: 'Homeland Security'

Although Juggernauts are deadly foes, dealing out and absorbing massive damage, their basic AI is a weakness that can be exploited. For example, they can easily be led round in circles for respite during a mission, because they simply follow the player.
3. During two player co-op, rather than dieing immediately when a certain amount of damage is taken a player is 'downed'. They lie on the ground and can fire a pistol and crawl around, until 'revived' by their partner. What happens if the downed player takes any more damage?

Answer: They become unable to attack and move more slowly

This game mechanic makes it more difficult for downed players to make the surrounding area safe. Instead, the other player often has to clear the area of enemies before reviving their partner by standing next to them and holding a button.
4. The goals of Spec Ops missions help make them a different experience from the single player campaign. Your objectives are generally simple, but often unique. Which mission does not involve defending an area or item as an objective?

Answer: 'High Explosive'

Defensive objectives often give players special equipment to use to their advantage, such as sentry guns or a Predator missile drone. This introduces a new tactical consideration, of how best to use what you have. This also applies to heavy weapons which are sometimes sparingly placed in the mission area.
5. Civilians in the mission area can complicate missions, as killing them can cause failure. They force players to think before they shoot to avoid innocent casualties. In which of these missions do you not have to worry about civilian casualties?

Answer: 'Body Count'

In 'Wetwork', civilians are used as hostages which players have to rescue. Players have to breach and clear two rooms of hostages. If even one dies, the mission is failed.
6. Thermal scopes, new to the series, allow players to easily find hidden or camouflaged enemies using their heat signatures. But in which of these missions are thermal weapons not available to you from weapons caches (at the start or anywhere in the mission)?

Answer: 'Evasion'

Thermal scopes show people as white hot against a grey/black background, making enemies hiding in foliage, grass or snow much easier to find. They can be used with sniper rifles and assault rifles, among other weapon types.
7. Another new addition is 'akimbo' - dual wielding weapons. In which of these Spec Ops missions do you start with akimbo weapons?

Answer: 'Bomb Squad'

In 'Bomb Squad', players start with akimbo G18 machine pistols. While using akimbo weapons players cannot aim down the sights of their weapons, but have more firepower at their disposal.
8. Most Spec Ops missions can be played solo or cooperatively. However, you do need a partner to play a certain mission(s). How many missions require two players?

Answer: Two

These missions are 'Overwatch' and 'Big Brother'. In both of them one player is the air support, helping the other to traverse the level and reach the end. In 'Overwatch' an AC-130 is used, and a Black Hawk helicopter with a minigun and explosive ammunition is the support in 'Big Brother'.
9. The Spec Ops mission 'Acceptable Losses' sees players sabotaging an airbase in a blizzard using stealth. How many aircraft must you sabotage?

Answer: Two

This mission has three targets, but only two are aircraft. Players have to plant C4 explosives on the aircraft's' undersides. The airbase is from the campaign mission 'Cliffhanger'.
10. Among other things, missions have an 'EST. Opposition'(estimated opposition) detail on the mission select screen. This shows roughly how big an enemy force players will have to deal with. What is the Estimated Opposition for the mission 'Body Count'?

Answer: Medium

Other details on the mission select screen are Classification, EST. Completion Time and IW Best Time (the development team's fastest time). Classification gives players an idea of what the mission will involve - for example, 'Elimination' missions require players to kill a certain number of enemies in an area.
