Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who directed the original "Resident Evil" on the Playstation?

Answer: Shinji Mikami

Mikami also went on to produce numbers 2, 3 and 4 and "Code Veronica". "Resident Evil 1" was the only one in the series to use live-action FMV and CG in conjunction; the Full Motion Video sequences were different in Europe due to censorship. One notable clip to get the chop was Joseph Frost getting eaten alive by the virus-infected dobermans during the opening.
2. What was the name of the mansion in "Resident Evil 1"?

Answer: The Spencer Mansion

The Spencer Mansion incident occurred on the 24 July 1998. The game starts with you as a member of Alpha team sent in to discover the fate of Bravo team who were originally sent there to investigate a number of vicious and bizarre murders. Along the way you discover a gruesome set of events and so starts one of the most successful gaming franchises in history. And survival horror is born.
3. Plant 42 was a boss in "Resident Evil 1" but what were the names of the little versions that appeared in "Resident Evil 2"?

Answer: Plant 43

Created from the DNA of the boss in "Resident Evil 1", these little critters would spit acid at you but were very easy to avoid unless you fired acid grenades at them in which case they'd become much stronger and gain an extra attack. Like many enemies in the series these only appeared in a single game.
4. What did you have to do to access the locker room in "Resident Evil 2" in order to change costumes?

Answer: By not collecting any items at the beginning of the game

If you get to the police station without picking up ANY items at the start of the game you'll find a zombie Brad Vickers (who also appears in "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis") in a tunnel to the side of the station. Once you've killed him he drops the locker room key.
5. "Farewell to my life. Farewell to my Home. This is my last chance for survival... This is my last escape." In which of the series would you of encountered this at the start of the game?

Answer: Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

"Resident Evil 3" actually started out as a side story to follow the events in "Resident Evil 2". This was also the first in the series to implement the dodge feature which once you'd figured it out was hard to imagine how you got through earlier games without.
6. What were the monk-like enemies called in "Resident Evil 4"?

Answer: Los Illuminados

These annoying hooded characters were much harder to deal with than the ambling, clumsy villagers (Los Ganados). They dispensed with pitchforks and instead used crossbows and grim reaper style scythes to inflict pain on poor ol' Leon.
7. Which of these was NOT a spin off in the series?

Answer: Resident Evil: 1.5

"Resident Evil 1.5" as it became known as was actually a work in progress sequel to the original game. When Capcom became unhappy with the way the project was going the game was canned and work began on the game that would eventually become "Resident Evil 2" .

Interestingly, the female lead in the game was originally planned to be Elza Walker, a stunt rider, before being replaced by Claire Redfield.
8. What were the name of the twins in "Resident Evil: Code Veronica"?

Answer: Alfred and Alexia

This was the first game in the series not to be developed by Capcom themselves and the first one to drop the pre-rendered backgrounds prevalent in the series before hand due to the power of the soon to be defunct Dreamcast (I loved that console). The antagonists of the game, Alfred and Alexia, were the grandchildren of the original founder of the Umbrella Corporation and they certainly continued the family legacy of evil. Alfred, in my opinion, is the most annoying "Resident Evil" character ever.

He meets his doom falling down an elevator shaft. Alexia, after morphing into a weird praying mantis/dragonfly type thing, is destroyed by the amazingly powerful Linear Launcher. Game over.
9. Every "Resident Evil" fan knows Leon S Kennedy, but what does the S stand for?

Answer: Scott

As someone with the same hairstyle as Leon and looking very much like him he must be my favourite character in the "Resident Evil" universe, He's also in my favourite game in the series, "Resident Evil 4". He also appears in the CGI animation by Capcom, "Resident Evil: Degeneration".
10. Rebecca Chambers debuted in "Resident Evil 1" as the only survivor of the ill-fated Bravo team. In which other game does she make her comeback (though technically it's set before number 1)?

Answer: Resident Evil: Zero

Strangely, despite appearing in two successful outings not much has been mentioned of Miss Chambers after the climax of "Resident Evil 1". Knowing the way Capcom likes to carry on with character development though I expect to see her appear at some point again.
