Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When entered into the password screen in the options menu, which of these passwords does nothing?

Answer: METEOR

"MIEMIE" activates a blue star showing where hidden items are, "AGES" displays copyright information, and "MAGURO" activates the "Onchi" music mode. Although "METEOR" isn't a password, inputting the password of "STAR" in the Japanese version of "Ristar" does cause a meteor/shooting star to appear on the screen.
2. What special stage is the only special stage in the game in which the treasure can become impossible to get before the timer runs out?

Answer: Planet Sonata

In Planet Sonata's special, you have to open chests to get up towards the treasure in the upper-right corner. Because the chests can only be hit once per time, hitting all chests before getting to the top near the treasure makes the stage impossible to beat.
3. The most common enemy in this game is the orb, a small multi-colored robot that "floats" in all levels except boss levels. They also appear in miniboss fights. Which of the following planets has a miniboss that does NOT feature an orb? (Note: Minibosses only occur in the first level of a planet.)

Answer: Flora

Scorch has orbs coming out of pipes at the end of the first stage as a miniboss, Automaton has you trying to hit a special orb amidst a whole group of normal orbs in its miniboss, and the Sonata miniboss has "intermissions" where orbs fly from both sides, four per intermission. Flora, on the other hand, just has a snake coming out of a 3x3 grid of holes, moving between them.
4. In Undertow's miniboss, which "wave" of enemies does not hurl projectiles at you?

Answer: 3rd Wave

The first wave has orbs hurling rocks at you while the second wave has fish firing light bursts at you and there is no fourth wave. While both the first and second waves can hit you alternatively by falling ashore, the third wave, consisting of jellyfish, only attacks when it falls ashore, instead of firing projectiles.
5. Who is the only boss that prior to being engaged, features a treasure chest containing a blue star?

Answer: Adahan

Ohsat and Uranim don't have any health items in their stages. In fact, Uranim hurls items at you. Awaueck doesn't have any pre-battle items, but Adahan has a chest containing a full-recovery blue star just before the fight.
6. Which of the following names is not the name of a song used in the game?

Answer: Shooting Star

The real name of this track is "Shooting Ristar", not "Shooting Star". "Ebony Force" and "Pray Pray Play" are both used in the opening cutscene and "Lock Up" is used as the track for Brain Maze.
7. How many rooms in the level "Lost Palace" are not mandatory in order to complete the level?

Answer: One

The room in question is near the beginning of the level and contains four treasure chests. The objective is to find the chest that does not contain an enemy in as few chests as possible. The room's objective is similar to another room later in the stage which must be completed to continue.
8. What's the only bonus stage that has an item that moves on its own power after being found?

Answer: Planet Undertow

Planet Scorch's bonus stage item does not move at all and Splash Snow's bonus stage item "freezes" into place if you grab it and land on the ice. Planet Automaton's bonus stage item moves, but only does this when you grab it, as it sits on the bouncing floor when unveiled. Planet Undertow's item, a pearl, does move all around the stage when uncovered, however.
9. In the room in Brain Maze with the peel-away walls, which of these is not in one of the peeled sections?

Answer: A cannon that fires missiles and takes two hits to beat.

The cannon does appear later in the stage, but it's not in this room. The final peel-away wall contains the crystal needed to continue.
10. During early builds of this game, what name did this game go under?

Answer: "Feel"

Not only was the name different, but the main character was different as well, with the "spikes" making the character resemble a rabbit more than a star. This name resurfaced in the Japanese version of "Ristar" as a password.
