Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This Pokémon loves the cries of children and is known to scare or even take away bad and misbehaving children. What ghost type is this?

Answer: Duskull

Duskull was introduced in the third generation of Pokémon, making its debut appearance in the "Ruby/Sapphire" games. They enjoy passing through walls to startle children, especially those who don't behave. It wears a skull mask and has one eye. It evolves into Dusclops at level 37 and then evolves into Dusknoir if traded while holding a Reaper Cloth.
2. Drifloon may look cute and harmless, but they may actually be menacing kidnappers. Children that grab a hold of them have been known to disappear. What do the unsuspecting children mistake the Pokémon as?

Answer: a balloon

Drifloon are ghost/flying type Pokémon from the fourth generation that are formed by the spirits of both people and other Pokémon. They are known as the "Signpost for Wandering Spirits". Luckily, though, their kidnapping attempts don't always go as planned. According to the "Pearl" Pokedex entry, "It tugs on the hands of children to steal them away.

However, it gets pulled around instead." At level 28, they evolve into Drifblim.
3. Banette was not always a Pokémon. What was it before a cursed energy turned it into one?

Answer: a plush doll

Banette is a ghost type from the third generation. It evolves from Shuppet at level 37. It was an abandoned plush doll brought to life by a cursed energy. It's mouth is a zipper, which can't be opened because it would let the energy out. It can be found in garbage dumps and dark alleys.

The Pokémon is said to search for the child that threw it away. Apparently, this Pokémon can be vengeful, so beware before you discard old toys!
4. This Pokémon likes to put people to sleep so it can eat their dreams and one time kidnapped a child it had hypnotized with the pendulum it holds. What psychic type is it?

Answer: Hypno

Hypno is from the first generation and evolves from Drowzee at level 26. It is yellow with white fur around its neck and stands on two legs. It is advised that you don't make eye contact with it or close your eyes when passing it so it doesn't hypnotize you with its pendulum and put you to sleep.
5. Another disturbing psychic Pokémon likes to make friends for itself by controlling sleeping children on starry nights. What fifth generation Pokémon does this describe?

Answer: Gothorita

Gothorita is appropriately called the "Manipulate Pokémon". The source of their power comes from starlight, so make sure to lock your doors at night. They evolve from Gothita at level 32 and into Gothitelle at level 41. Being from the fifth generation, they were first seen in the "Black/White" games.
6. If you think Pokémon that kidnap and torment children are bad, what about Pokémon that murder people? Haunter is known to do just that. How does this Pokémon take the lives of its victims?

Answer: by licking them

Haunter is a ghost/poison type that has been around since the first generation. It evolves from Gastly at level 25 and into Gengar when traded. Its gaseous tongue saps the life from its victims, causing them to shake constantly until they die. They like to lurk in the shadows and stalk their prey.

They also like to trip people. If you see this dangerous Pokémon floating nearby, you better turn and run!
7. Seeing this Pokémon is said to bring misfortune, which might be true because it likes to lure travelers deep into the mountains until they are lost. What malevolent dark/flying type Pokémon is this?

Answer: Murkrow

Murkrow was introduced in the second generation, with its first appearance in the "Gold/Silver" games. It evolves into Honchkrow when presented with a Dusk Stone. The feathers on its head are in the form of a hat. Along with causing people to get lost, they like to steal objects that sparkle, like rings from women.
8. This Pokémon plays tricks on people and feeds off their fear. Which of these ghost type Pokémon are known for their frightening screaming and hair-pulling?

Answer: Misdreavus

Misdreavus is from the second generation. It can be evolved into a Mismagius with a Dusk Stone. At night, they like to bite and pull people's hair and scare people with creepy screams and cries. They then use the red spheres around their neck to absorb the fear and turn it into nutrition.
9. Be careful not to get too close to a Cofagrigus or it might swallow you and turn you into which of the following?

Answer: a mummy

Cofagrigus is from the fifth generation and evolves from a Yamask at level 34. They look like a golden sarcophagus with four shadowy hands. They are found in ruins and tombs, where they teach grave robbers and unsuspecting explorers a lesson by swallowing them alive. They also eat gold nuggets.
10. If you feel a sudden chill, this Pokémon may be near. They like to pretend to be your shadow and scare you by running past and even kill people lost in the mountains. What sinister final evolution Pokémon is this?

Answer: Gengar

Gengar, a ghost/poison type Pokémon from the first generation, evolves from Haunter when traded. It is purple with red eyes and an intimidating grin. They steal the heat from people, and occasionally even steal their lives. They also like to curse people and play mean tricks. Beware while walking alone at night!

Or maybe just stay inside at night and during the day, too, because you never know when a Pokémon might attack, murder, or steal you away! Be careful out there, fellow trainers, and bring along plenty of repels!
