Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Playing the role of Richard Miller, your job is to save Rachel Macpherson, daughter of the president of the country that the enemy mastermind is trying to gain rule over. What is the name of that country?

Answer: Sercia

The enemy mastermind, Sherudo Garo is trying to become king of Sercia. Unlike Serbia and Persia, this is not a real country, though it is loosely based on Serbia.
2. Wild Dog, the final boss of the game, is the enemy mastermind.

Answer: False

The enemy mastermind is in fact Sherudo Garo, the last of an Imperial family that dictated Sercia. Sherudo has merely hired Wild Dog and his mercenary band to help him reclaim his family's throne. Despite his status, Sherudo is only the boss of the second stage, and once he is defeated, Wild Dog decides to take charge solely to satisfy his blood lust.
3. What bonus do the orange-clothed enemies confer when shot?

Answer: Extra time

The only purpose that the orange soldiers grant in the game is that they give the player extra time when shot, which is useful due to the timer in "Time Crisis" meaning instant death if it runs out. Unlike any other enemy in the game, the orange soldiers don't shoot at the player, and once they've ducked for cover, they will never return (though some do return a few moments after in the same scene, but if shot this time confer less bonus seconds).
4. Which of the standard enemy soldiers are the most dangerous in the game?

Answer: Red

The red enemies never miss a shot, so if you don't duck when they fire at you, you're guaranteed to lose a life. The blue enemies are the least dangerous, rarely if ever hitting you, but are the most common enemy in the game. The brown enemies, who wear white trousers and red berets, hit slightly more than the blue enemies, but but that much more.

The white enemies, who appear in Stage 3 Area 3 and during the fight with Sherudo at the end of Stage 2, hit more than the brown enemies, but like them they also miss most of their shots, unlike the red ones.
5. Moz, the orange ninja and boss of Stage 1, is defeated after three shots.

Answer: True

It only takes three shots to kill Moz, unlike the other two bosses who are much tougher. Unlike Sherudo and Wild Dog though, Moz has two different death animations depending whether the finishing shot hit him whilst he is in midair or on the ground. It is interesting to note that Moz dies after only one shot the last time you fight him.
6. How many different times in the game do you confront Moz?

Answer: Three

You face Moz three times during the game. The first is as the boss of Stage 1, where he fights you alongside the basic gray ninjas. The next time you face Moz is in Stage 3 Area 3 just before you go into the lift to chase Wild Dog. The last time you confront Moz is during the final boss battle, where he is amongst the large number of enemies you must defeat before moving on to the final scene against Wild Dog.
7. Wild Dog has a chain gun replacing his left arm in this game.

Answer: False

Wild Dog has the chain gun arm in every Time Crisis sequel, but not in the original. However, it was the explosion at the end of the final battle in this game that caused him to lose his arm and have the need to replace it. He fights you using a pair of revolvers, martial arts and acrobatics, grenades, a machine gun (that he fires rather fanatically), and sets off explosions on large stone cylinders, causing them to roll towards you.
8. What is Sherudo's weapon of choice?

Answer: Throwing Knives

Sherudo uses throwing knives, which he flicks out from his sleeve in the cutscene just before your battle with him. Every knife Sherudo throws hits you with pin-point accuracy, and so you must dodge each of his attacks if you don't shoot him before he throws his weapons.
9. What is the name of the organization that the protagonist, Richard Miller, works for?

Answer: VSSE

Richard Miller, and all the protagonists from the "Time Crisis" sequels, work for the VSSE. It is never revealed in any of the "Time Crisis" games what VSSE stands for, though it appears they send their agents to deal with any military threats not just to their own nation, but to other democracies as well.
10. Your fight with Sherudo takes place in a clock tower.

Answer: True

The fight does actually take place in a clock tower. You find out about the clock tower after defeating Moz, who tells you that Rachel is up there. Sherudo is waiting for you up there though, and later on just before you begin the battle against Wild Dog, Wild Dog blows up the clock tower.
11. You fight three helicopters in the game.

Answer: False

You actually fight two; one near the start of Stage 1 Area 3, and the next near the end of Stage 3 Area 1. Earlier in Stage 3 Area 1, a helicopter drops off a number of enemies, and while you can shoot it to gain more points, you don't actually fight this one. It is possible that this helicopter and the one you fight later on in the same area are the same ones.
12. What happens when you run out of time?

Answer: You lose all of your lives and are shown the continue screen

One of the things that made the original "Time Crisis" game much harder to beat than the sequel "Time Crisis 2" was the fact that not only did it's timer not recover a large amount of time in between scene changes like it does in the sequel, but when the timer runs out, you lose all of your lives, no matter how many you had left.
13. In some scenes in the game, there are features that the player can shoot that will automatically clear out all the enemies in the scene. How many of these are there?

Answer: Three

There are three. The first is the box being held up by the fork lift in the last scene of Stage 1 - Area 1, which will explode and destroy all the enemies in the area.

The second is in Stage 1 - Area 3, where there is a box on the ground at the lower left of the screen just beside the bomb-thrower's feet. Just like the box on the fork lift, this one will explode and destroy all of the enemies in that area.

The third and final one is in the last scene of Stage 2 - Area 1, where at the upper right part of the scene, there is a large number of metal bars stood up vertically by a metal support. If you shoot the support a few times, the bars will begin to fall one by one, eliminating all the enemies in that area. Note that one of the bars also falls towards the player, but as long as the player isn't standing when it falls, it won't damage them.
14. How many shots does it take to defeat Wild Dog?

Answer: 20

It takes twenty shots to defeat Wild Dog. You inflict the first seven shots during the gun-fight with him around the well, the next two in the first scene against a horde, the next one in the second area against a horde, and the final ten in the final scene where you are once again one on one with Wild Dog.
15. On the Playstation port of "Time Crisis", there is a special mode involving Richard Miller pursuing Wild Dog's arm's dealer, Kantaris. Unlike the story mode, this part of the game features several different outcomes depending on how well you perform in certain areas. How many different bosses are there?

Answer: Four

There are four different alternative boss fights: a large spider-like tank, a large droid, the cyborg known as Web Spinner, or a gunship that tries to take off with Kantaris inside. The final one is a boss fight that has two different outcomes varying on whether or not you destroy it in time.
