The Althing is Iceland's Parliament. It has been in existence since 930 CE, more than 1,000 years ago.

When Iceland united with Norway in 1262 CE, it no longer had legislative powers, until 1903 CE when Iceland was granted home rule by Denmark.

The Althing is found at Þingvellir, around 45 km (28 mi) east of Reykjavik.

Tynwald claims to be the oldest continuous surviving parliament as the Althing was inactive from 1800-1844.

It's the parliament of the Isle of Man and was established in the 13th century. Its formal name is "High Court of Tynwald" (Manx: "Ard-whaiyl Tinvaal").
