Models are just as much celebrities, though I sometimes wonder why... Cymruambyth, you managed to totally beat me on all 5, including Stephen Lewis as I doubt you're really that fascinated with Blakey from On the Buses. Or maybe? I'm trying to work out which field they'd be in I'd be unlikely to know about, and either film directors/prodcers, US/Canadian politicians or TV presenters or maybe circus performers, although I may have heard of a few of them! In September I won a contest to have lunch with Jim Cuddy, lead singer of Blue Rodeo. It was amazing; he's such a nice guy, and after he sang a couple of numbers he told me he liked my singing, that we made great harmony together. What can I say; I couldn't help myself. I was too wrapped up in deciding which fridge magnets to buy when I heard the voice of Woody asking which way to the Crown Jewels and talking about giving his "Pennies to the Paupers". I nearly snapped my own neck turning around to locate the sound of the voice I've heard three times a day every day for a year in my household but couldn't go after him to say hello and introduce my son to the man behind "Woody" from 'Toy Story' because of those same da*n magnets. I did however tell my husband who was able to chase him down with his mother in tow just for her to walk past Tom and say "Excuse me" as if he was in her way! She was thrilled to have the encounter but said Rita Wilson didn't look too receptive at the moment so she didn't say anything else. A few weeks later we saw Vanessa Williams at the Palace of Versailles. I knew I recognized her but couldn't place her as I thought she was someone I knew from the post office or bank. I was close enough to poke her in the eye but she got away before I could say "Hey, I know you from somewhere" never realizing she is a movie star. She was dressed down in denim with no make-up on at all and didn't have an entourage so I can't fault myself for not knowing her at first. I was surprised at how bad her skin is considering how good she looks on camera! Reply #6. My friend who stands 4'10" encountered him along the red carpet at the TO film festival a couple of years ago. He apparently made a beeline for her and shook her hand and she said he was well under six feet, closer to 5'7". I theorized that his publicist advised him to always look for short people in a crowd in case his picture gets taken during photo ops. My friend wasn't too impressed with my theory (gee, I can't imagine why...there's an advantage there). But if you watch CSI:NY you'll see that many of the camera angles shoot him from below. Most recently I met Mel Gibson, Justin Timberlake, David Hasselhoff and Harry Connick Jr. We see a lot of sports figures too. I've met ear biting, Mike Tyson, a few times. He was so sweet when he first started out in his boxing career, but changed so much over the years. It's always fun meeting people from the 'big' world though. I think my favorite would be Mrs. Griswold from the "Vacation" movies. She was so kind! Reply #13.
