Subject: Your age when you read the first book?

Posted by: debimore
Date: Feb 16 08

I ask this because I ordered the first 3 books from my book club, hoping to get my youngest son to start reading. Instead, I was the one hooked, and my daughter, as well. I finished the last book in September-I'm 43.

eight years old... my dad gave it to me for christmas.

it's the book that saved me from Nancy Drew and got me totally into fantasy (a subject i'm still hooked on!)

I just started last year and read all of them over the summer. I was over 40. OK that's enough now. 0:)

I was in my 20s when I read the first one (after the first movie came out then I saw all the kids lining up to get the fourth book).

I was one of the ones standing in line to get the last three books. Finished reading each one (of the last three) on the first day I got them. (And re-read them by the end of the next day).

I was about 21 or so. I resisted the craze for awhile...but I had to see what the hype was about. I read book 2 first (library availability) and was hooked

I was 13 when I read the Sorcerers Stone. Before, I used to have a bad impression about Harry Potter. But on stumbling upon the 1st book, I thought to give it a try. And well, in the same month a completed reading all the books.

I think it was last year for me or maybe the year before so then I would've been....31-ish.

I read book one for a Children's Lit class in college, so 22. I didn't pick up the 2nd book for another couple of years. When I was three chapters away from finishing the Half Blood Prince, my husband was in line at 12pm to buy the Deathly Hallows. I'm a slow reader. Since then, I have re-read each book 3 times. I'm on my fourth round and my timing is scheduled so that I will be finishing the 6th book right when the new movie is coming out.
