Two tunes/songs feature throughout my life, one of which is now frowned upon and considered "racist"..........frankly I couldn't care less what it is considered, soooooooooo:- DIXIE.........played and sung by South Carolina String Band, which has to be the most awesome version of this I know of. POST HORN GALLOP..........When I was around 9 years old, my father took me to watch Colchester United play football (Soccer for our American friends), and the teams ran out onto the pitch to this tune. Although now out of favour, for many a long year, this tune represented the team I have followed virtually all my life (I am now well into my 70's). Reply #141. Mar 20 18, 10:51 AM |

We've already had Into the West https://youtu.be/shdiTRxTJb4 mentioned, with which I'd agree, but I'd also like to add in https://youtu.be/0qIav-KKBS0 One More Day by Sinead O'Connor as used in Veronica Guerin. That's my wife's choice, but I'll steal it if I go first! Reply #143. Apr 24 18, 8:13 PM |

Been thinking "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" by Beyonce or "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper to make everyone uncomfortable. But genuinely, I think "Distant Sky" by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, "Call On Me" by Majical Cloudz and "Atmosphere" by Joy Division would go quite well. Reply #146. Dec 25 18, 5:15 AM |

Whilst my above posting is perfectly true, realistically though it doesn't matter WHAT gets played, because I am not going to either know or hear it. Reply #147. Dec 25 18, 5:22 AM |

I've heard some great music played at other people's funerals. It is a pity we're not around to hear our own. I think the reason some people have wakes is to be sure a person is dead before they are buried literally giving them time to wake, but in some cultures it's the rule to bury people very quickly. I don't think I'll be able to be buried because our local borough had privatised all the cemeteries and I'm not keen to buy a plot from someone who might go bankrupt before my time has come. Also in 2 church cemeteries, 2 of my relatives bought plots only to find other people were buried in them instead. However their final resting places were rather nicer than the plots they'd bought.
