Subject: Song you want played at your funeral.

This is a lot like the "What song do you want to die to" post but just a little different.

For me it would be Time of my life by green day

Actually, side note, not sure if I mentioned it but I was lucky enough to surf with Perry Farrell on a big day out at Zuma - Drainpipes a few years back. Nice guy, little nutty though. Sorry for the name drop. Just remembered that actually.

Never Forget, I wrote it, but I've never showed or mentioned it to anyone.

I think I'd like Bryan Adams "18 till I die" and the Leonard Cohen (original) version of Hallelujah... and if anyone played the Jeff Buckley version, I would probably come back and haunt them.

At my husband's funeral we had a Lee Kernaghan song.. Bushman Can't Survive on City Lights... still can't hear it without remembering that day..

If they are going to play it at my funeral I'll certainly choose one that will be composed in two hundred years' time.

This is an interesting topic...my mother passed away not too long ago and can be a chore to match what the older generation is comfortable with and what Mom really enjoyed. I think we worked out a nice mix between traditional hymns sung by Anne Murray and Elvis Presley as well as metal from Ozzy (sounds odd, but it didn't sound too weird).
Momma I'm Coming Home by Ozzy is a song I'd like, Life is Beautiful by Sixx AM is good, too. Float On by Modest Mouse is an interesting song. Lots of choices.

Lots of choices indeed.

Sarah Mclachlan-"Angel" or maybe "I Will Remember You"
Bruce Springsteen-"Thunder Road"
AC/DC-"Highway to Hell"
Dire Straits-"Fade to Black"
Eagles-"Peaceful Easy Feeling"
Blue Rodeo-"Montreal"

Traditional hymns: How Great Thou Art and I Know That My Redeemer Lives. But also, Elton John's Funeral For a Friend and Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird.

At one time I was a member of my church choir and so I have some favorite hymns, that we use to sing doring mass. Someday soon I have to look them over and pick a few for my funeral, that I hope doesn't come for a long long time.

My wife just asked me this same question, again. Maybe she knows something I don't.
Rich Mullins: "Elijah" and "Hold Me Jesus" definitely, then maybe "Tears in Heaven" and "Knocking on Heavens Door" or even "Presence of the Lord" and "My Fathers Eyes" all by Eric Clapton of course. So many good choices by Clapton, maybe "Bell Bottom Blues", "Running on Faith", "Let it Rain", "I Feel Free", he even sang "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot". Oh now I'm even thinking about Trisha Yearwoods' "Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love" and I can't forget Sqeezes' "Some Fantastic Place. I hope I've got time to figure this out. I don't Know who first suggested "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life", but maybe they can play that as I'm wheeled out. Well, I've got some planning to do.

This song is what I want. Its lyrics are a reminder that people who die now may one day live again in Paradise on Earth.

It's a toss up between two songs for me...Dust In The Wind or The Inspector Morse theme.
