too many to count I prefer either books that stand alone, meaning no wondering about how you got to the beginning and no wondering what happened later or long running series, preferably quartets or longer, though for some authors, trilogies work well. Reply #6. Nov 21 08, 2:39 PM |

Harry Potter is one, and The Sword Of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind. Sword of Shannara series by Terry Brooks. There is a show on tv now called Legend of the Seeker that is based on the Sword of Truth series that is pretty good though they changed it some. Reply #8. Nov 22 08, 8:14 AM |

Robin Hobb - The Farseer Trilogy (+ its sequel The Tawny Man Trilogy) I guess not many people know this author, but if you're into fantasy, you should really check these two trilogies out. A student of mine gave it to me, and even though each book has got 600-1000 pages, I was never bored. She's created an amazing world there. Reply #16. Feb 17 09, 6:21 PM |

When i was much younger than I am today, my favourite series was L.M. Montgomery's 'Anne' books - 'Anne of Green Gables', 'Anne of Avonlea', 'Anne of the Island', 'Anne's House of Dreams', 'Anne of Ingleside' and 'Rilla of Ingleside'. As an adult, I enjoy Ruth Rendell's Inspector Wexford mysteries, Deborah Crombie's Kincaid/James mysteries, Josephine Tey's Alan Grant mysteries and P.D. James' Adam Dalgleish mysteries. Reply #18.
