No offence taken! I'm studying for a physics degree and am likely to say that it is the best of the three...but it really is. The relationship between maths and physics and how these two fields work together to accurately explain what is going on in things as small as the atomic nucleus and as large as the universe never fails to inspire me. It is also practical in everyday life - you can make up your own physics experiment out of things that lie around your house - you don't need expensive, dangerous chemicals or mammalian tissues to have a bit of fun with physics.

It is certainly the concept of scale that intrigues me most about physics - how the same subject is versatile enough to explain what goes on in distances smaller than the Angstrom (~10^-10 m) and simultaneously help explain red shift and how the universe is expanding.

Chemistry tends to be an endless list of rules to learn and precipitate colours to memorise and can get very tedious, very quickly. The best part of chemistry for me is on the rare occasion that they explain WHY the precipitates are such a colour and why certain chemicals bond the way they do. Usually to explain such concepts they cross over to the world of physics - the splitting of the 3d orbitals in complex metal ions/ligands, for example.

Biology is very interesting, of that there is no doubt but definitely depends on what you are studying as the subject is so diverse. Ecology, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, zoology, botany -- rather varied.

1) Physics & Maths
2) Biology
3) Chemistry

wow that was a great explanation for physics....i have hardly seen people or heard people who love physics soo much...ofcourse if we leave all the eminent scientist like albert einstien etc. and i love biology.....especially microbiology in which i am doing my graduation...its fun to study about microorganisms....

I enjoy biology and am fascinated by physics. Chemistry, however, is not my cup of tea.

Come on Jon, Chemistry isn't SO bad :) Out of the three I'd probably have to say Chemistry but if you include Maths as a science then it is right up there for me.

Wow--I've impressed Jon! I'm so happy. Keep in mind that my fascination does not actually lead to much comprehension! ;-)

Jonno has explained my gap for physics, as maths is like trying to juggle, sing and dance at the same time for me. Physics is like doing it while at sea as well.

But I love the other two, especially the chemistry experiments (not when we did them as they inevitably ended all over the desks at least) but when the teacher demonstrated, including a couple of explosions (one cleared the school) and various broken glass receptacles. Biology is the study of something we all experience directly, and the more we understand how life works the better we can live with it. Science has always been my top trivia topic and were it not for the maths which creeps in to all of it would have studied it far longer. I also liked the idea of medicine till I visited a hospital, and now I treat minds rather than bodies, which is just as satisfying.

Loved biology, liked chemistry, hated physics and maths.. far too logical for me !

Satguru said it all when he said -
"...maths is like trying to juggle, sing and dance at the same time for me. Physics is like doing it while at sea as well."

Biology is quite interesting and I'm really quite good at it. Chemistry was close to impossible and physics was way past impossible heading into hopelessness.

Physics & Chemistry, and I've studied a lot of both at school and work.

Loved biology, anatomy, and physiology. Didn't care for chemistry other than it related to biology, etc. Loved statistics.

Lets take it like this in my school:-

Physics has a lot of questions(something like 50 i guess per lesson), so one gets bored- but numericals are the fun part.

Chemistry is an objective type subject- more of it is related to equations, symbols and simple one or two line definitions and experiments.

Biology- It is also easy, but diagrams make it slightly tricky.

So seeing this- Chemistry and Biology are better than Physics(maybe for others), but I like all branches as you learn all science with the combination of this.

Hehe cricketers, fair enough. :) As a physics student though I must be on the defensive! How can looking at a test tube of two reactants and seeing what colour it changes be more interesting than black holes and the extremely intriguing fact that all physicists' calculations end up with infinity? Infinity simply does not work in our world - truly fascinating stuff.

Though I will agree, and it is a major complaint of mine, that secondary schools do not show physics in a good light. (Does that count as a pun? :)) They fill it up with trivial and boring mechanics calculations that even the most enthusiastic engineer would get bored of.

I enjoy all three thoroughly.

Going from GCSE to A-level definitely made a difference in terms of how much I enjoyed the three subjects, particularly in physics. I think the reason why physics seems to be the least popular out of the three is because many stop studying at the "boring" level. But, from my point of view, the higher the level of physics you study, the more interesting it becomes.

If I had to choose, I'd probably give my vote to chemistry. I loved learning about structure and bonding, knowledge of which allowed me to understand several other areas of chemistry, such as how and why things react. Furthermore, colourful chemicals, explosions, and smelly stuff. I rest my case ;)

I love Biology especially physiology. I was never good at Physics, but I think its the most interesting one of the three. when I think about stuff like astronomy, space, pulsars, its pretty unbelievable. Chemistry I find unbelievably boring.

Yes I love biology. So interesting and relates to real life. No math at all, labs are interesting and its great.

Havn't taken physiology but it does seem fun about the body, only problem I hear is remembering the body parts lol.

Taking chem next year, I hear theres a lot of equations and labs.

Im in physics right now, and I dont have the greatest teacher. Yea I must agree with others in saying Sat summed it up. Its 90% math -.-. Argh I never knew it was 90% math and 10% concepts. Only fun part are the labs which are exciting. But I dont like having another math class. xD

I like biology the best. It is interesting to learn about organisms and their classifications. I've performed well in it in high school and in the two biology courses I took at the beginning of my college career.
