Are you ready to go on a little bit of an adventure?
Well here at Globetrot Trivia, we’re all going to take a bit of a trivial tour around the planet, stopping off at a number of points of interest and learning a bit more along the way!
For this challenge, a destination will be posted here. Sometimes that destination will be very specific and sometimes it will be very vague, but either way, we’ll need to have two quizzes queued up before we move on to the next location.
Let’s take a hypothetical here. Let’s say our current location is ‘The Great Pyramids of Egypt’. This means we need to queue two quizzes— anyone can submit them— before we continue on. The quizzes can be about they pyramids…or pyramids in general…or Egyptian landmarks…or the 7 Wonders…or mummies…or camels. As long as you can justifiably link the quiz to the locations, it’s good!
Once we make our trip around the world, we’ll return to our starting location.
All you need to do is post when your quiz is submitted, and when there’s two we’ll move along. :)

The whole Witwatersrand Gold Rush (which was what led to the establishment of Jo-burg) could make an interesting quiz. I focused on a famous sporting venue. There are several others with international reputations and interesting histories. There are a number of parks that could be visited on a family day out (with pictures). Soweto, now a part of the city, was the site of a significant anti-apartheid uprising, so could be the trigger for a quiz on apartheid. Or maybe one of the suburbs visited in a consideration of the demographics of the different parts of the city. What about men with the name Johannes, who have been suggested as being the source of the city's name - there are four mentioned in the Wikipedia article, so a couple of questions on each would make a quiz. It was involved in the Boer War fighting. There are a bunch of Africa's tallest buildings to visit. There are also, of course, a bunch of museums. A number of reasonably people were born there. It might be interesting to compare and contrast Jo-burg with ten of its twin cities. Whew, I'm exhausted just contemplating all the quizzes I could write. For anyone curious about the globetrotting, there is a set amount of destinations on this circumnavigation (that is posted for the editors for posterity).
